I'm sure loria is more than a millionare.

I think he means one of those millionaires that swim in their money bins :p

Arty Moreno, Steinbrenner, take your pick. big markets, big spenders. it sucks.

Pubes Steinbrenner?

You know, I hate when most posters jump down others throats for every little thing, but s*** like this really pisses me off! The guy is going to spend over $100 million of his OWN money on a stadium to keep the team in Miami. He has the WORST lease in all of pro sports and is losing money. Yet some people rip on our ownership. Stupidity like this amazes me. Steinbrenner paid like 10 million for his team, gets basically all the money from the stadium, has never had to spend a dime to build a stadium since it was built so long ago, AND he has the largest media market in the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop comparing other owners to Steinbrenner. He couldn't do much better than Loria if he was in his situation.

Some of you guys have absolutely no clue how to run a business and the different cost and revenue sources that are unique to each team's location, history and professional sports league they are in. :banghead :banghead :banghead

People get mad at Steinbrenner but he's not afraid to spend his moldy money. You've got to give him credit. Believe me, Loria is not going to the poor house anytime soon. These guys can afford the teams but don't want to spend their money.

Have you ever thought that the yankees probably bring in 4-6 times the revenue that the marlins do? Loria and co are running a bussiness to make money, not please everyone in south florida. Fortunatley for the fans the two go hand in hand most of the time.

Don't kid yourself, Loria is filthy rich.

He is rich but not compared most MLB owners.

Loria Networth is around 450 Mil.

Normally it doesn't bother me. Hey we beat the Yankees with a low salary.

But during free agency it hurts. I see holes and players who can fill them, heck some of the latins beg us to give them a competetive offer (think Vlad last year). But the offer doesn't come because we have a low revenue team, with an owner who can't afford to take the risks involved in offering big contracts. This FA period I look at Beltran, Mags, and others, knowing that we will struggle (if we even try) to keep our staff together. Discouraging.

Nevertheless I've been a Marlins fan from the begining. The only time I ever lost interest was the around the time Torberg was fired last year. The fish did a pretty good job getting me back.

You guys really need to stop complaining about the ownerships spending habits. If you want them to start spending more money we need to increase awareness of the team. You would think a team coming off a fresh world series victory would be able to average 20,000 people a game easily, but no we have to have crappy fans that don't go out to games but expect the team to spend 90 million a year on payroll.

I gurantee you things would have been different if the whole would have been kept together. The bandwagons would have purchase season tickets.

I don't balme Loria because even some owners who are loaded wouldn't kept the team(*Cough* Wayne!).

Our fans aren't great. I know I'm opening a very old can of worms but this is not a natural baseball market. The population is fickle, but the problem has to do with the type of money (and overall lack of it), the lack of people in the market, and the distance many have to travel to get to the stadium. An ideal baseball population is in a densely populated city with lots of corporate dollars. Remember because of the length of the season baseball is the sport that requires the largest market of the big-4. The money in the area is in banks, and belongs to individuals. Few businesses buy high priced season tickets to treat their clients. This means that we rely of high number of walkups (this according to Samson himself), and thats not where the big money clubs get their money.

With a stadium the market will stabilze and become sustainable. But we can never expect to even be in the top-third of money spent or revenue.

That said, GO FISH! Lets make it a perfect 3-for-3 when we get to the playoffs this year.

Loria is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, you have to be worth that much in order to even be considered as a majority owner of a professional sports franchise. Loria wants the team to make it's own money to buy players and whatnot rather than taking money out of his own pocket, can you blame him? Unless you're pretty much guaranteed to win a world series, it's very rare for an owner to take money out of his own pocket to buy players.

Loria is definitely no Steinbrenner, but just be thankfull that he's not a Donald Sterling, GAWD!

Only thing I dislike is the damn 10 dollar parking at our stadium but that isn't Loria's fault..

OK, this pisses me off. Before people start hating on the fans, learn the facts!
