NirvanaNole
I don't know if this has been posted or not, but what the hell... Article ? There's speculation among Marlins players that the team will offer Carl Pavano a three-year deal for around $22 million. ? Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria surprised daughter Samantha at her wedding at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York by hiring singer Jon Bon Jovi to perform for an hour. MarlinsChik305
Keep Pavano. We seem to win when he starts. It wouldnt be smart not to keep him. the world would b turned upside down. Ill go bananas! Pavi is an awsome Marlins pitcher, and it better b kept that way.

farmer_fran
• There's speculation among Marlins players that the team will offer Carl Pavano a three-year deal for around $22 million. 536177 holy BARGAIN batman! 536323 exactly, I would be shocked if Pavano takes that. He'll be able to get more years and way more money in the Free Agent market. I wouldn't mind if he took it though. :whistle
NirvanaNole
? There's speculation among Marlins players that the team will offer Carl Pavano a three-year deal for around $22 million. 536177 holy BARGAIN batman! 536323 If we do offer him that, hopefully he'll accept it. If the Yanks keep pitching the way they are, they may offer him $15 million a year. :lol
MarlinFan10
Good offer, but I'm sure the BoSox can do better. :plain

Fishin2004
something to remember - FL has no state income tax....we can offer him slightly less than others and still the net value to him is more.
Fishin2004
Lo Duca has to be the first priority... 536536 also - Lo Duca is arbitration-eligible, so he should really be the last priority. in the worst-case, we can go to arbitration with him and knw that we're going to keep him. jonnylons
This is good - but only the beginning. I think Pavs wants to stay here and he does owe a little something to Loria and Co. for taking a chance on him and resurrecting his career. Besides, 3 years and he could still net a big deal at the end of that.
NirvanaNole
They could throw in a no-trade clause to give him something extra besides money. I assume if he is giving a discount for loyalty, he'd want a no-trade clause. It would suck to sign for a discount and then get traded down the line. TSwift25
I'd actually be surprised if he signs for significantly more than that anywhere. Garcia got about that from the Sox (and Garcia's perceived value is much higher than Pavano's), factor that in with the fact that Pavano isn't the most desireable pitcher on the market (Pedro) and his leverage isn't huge. Go ahead and disagree, but Pedro will walk away with the biggest contract, but the biggest thing that we're giving Pavano is a short term deal. Remember, he'll only be 31 at the end of this proposed three year deal, meaning he still has at least one more big pay-day in his future...
