First off, I'm sooooo proud of our All-Star Marlins :arms congrats keep it up in the second half

Well you all know management show a BIGTIME commitment with the Uggy trade but all will be for not "IF" they don't continue what they started this past road trip. The season will be on the line in the next two weeks. Where the Marlins are in the standing at the end, will say if the Marlins will continue to be buyer or seller. It will mean either the end of longtime Marlins Lee, Castillo and Penny or the pursuit of a big bat like a Rondell White :whistle . Can this team be in it by the end of this? YES...Can it do it alone? NO They need YOU AND YOUR SUPPORT with 4 of the next 5 series(against playoff teams)at home this will mean everything.

1.Cubs 3 games

2.Expos 2 games

3.Braves 2 games

4.Phillies 3 games

5.D-Backs 3 games

I believe in this team DO YOU! :thumbup

:marlins

Im going sat and sunday baby!

they have to win at least 8 of those 13 to be contenders.

we have Tough teams ahead! Lets see if we can keep our record well over .500! I hope our pitching gets better with Beckett and Penny. I kow Mark Redman and D-Train will do good. We also need our bullpen remeber our team is based on pitching and defense!

The Marlins as a team realize the pressure, and they know that they havent fully proved themselves to south florida yet, and they want more than anything to do that and fill up the stadium...so i say look for a kick A** team in the 2nd halfs. :thumbup

Screw the stadium.

What we need right now, this minute, is a big bat and a couple of MLB experienced arms who want to come here to win. We can't wait until July 31st to pull the trigger. Personally I hope a trade happens tomorrow.

That schedule. One high caliber team after another until the end of the first week in August when we play the Brewers. Until then its going to be a fight for survival every night.

There's nobody in AA or AAA to look to for help. We have to go outside the organization for help and that means a trade.

It's been a great season so far, taking two of three from Montreal was sweet, a real frosting on the cake for the first half. Now its time to step up.

Bubba Trammell may be a cheap and effective bat for our bench. He would be payed less than $1 million, probably league minimum. He averages 23 homers a year and in limited DH play with the Yankees has none. They put him on the restricted list and are trying to get rid of him to save money.

Your wrong Marlins2003 because the marlins do have people in the organization to look for help. Because the pen is still missing Spooneybarger and Borland. When those two are healthy the marlins will have an awsome pen.

Our pen is strong enough right now, we need a bat like Bubba's. He has experience in the NL and has done well with the Mets and Padres. He can play the outfield in a platoon with Cabs and has play the OF pretty solid defensively.

I agree with you, but if the marlins do get Bubba then someone will have to be sent down. Who will it be? Hollandsworth has being getting the job done as the 4th OF. I think the marlins should sent down Castro, because their not doing him any good seating him on the bench.

Castro has no more options available, but I could see Banks going down since Bubba would replace him.

Castro should go down. Banks could play just about anywhere, and can hit.

As has been said, if they try and demote Castro -- another team can get him. He'd have to clear waivers.

And with the possibility of Pudge not staying with the Fish, they can't just let Castro go

Castro can't be sent down, the Marlins ran out of options on him. If we send him down he can refuse and be a free agent. It will have to probably be Banks. Sorry, I would prefer Castro too, but if he is out of options it can't be him.

Screw the stadium.

I honestly think Abe Nunez can offer plenty with his switch hitting power and good defense.

Besides, Castro has monsterous power and has shown it in some at bats this season. Just needs to improve that contact.

Just needs more consistent at-bats

They've got Arizona, Philly, LA, Montreal, St. Louis, and Colorado to worry about. So far under McKeon they're winning at about a 60% rate. If they continue that rate for the rest of the year they'd have a 40-27 second half, putting them at 89-73 for the season which is a pretty strong record. I think that needs to happen for them to have any shot. I think they can do it.

If that happens HC Samson will say I told you so...thats one win off his prediction.(90)

We need to sweep the Brew-hahas again. The schedule is getting harder, but guess what, we can handle it! We are a thorn in the Braves', Phillies', and Expos' sides right now and they know it. Fear us, for we can play and win. No more fishing for them, they have become the hunted and we are the hunters.

Why is it that when you think of a big bat either coming off the bench or playing possibly LF people think of Bubba T..I know this has been talked about in this chat before but Jeff Conine is your man and we don't HAVE to trade D lee to get him we've got 3 catchers and we only need 2 we've got nunez in the minors I'm sure someone would take him. And I am sure we have someone down in the minors that's expendable. If not conine then why not Rondell White reminds me of Cliffy!

I think the MArlins are sitting pretty. We have a team that is playing very good right now, and I think we have enough to scratch out wins and stay in contention - but we probably dont have enough to start winning and demand our position atop everyone else. 90 wins is nice, and that is what I expected before this season began, but right now, it may take more than 90 wins to get the job done.

HAving said that, we have plenty of talent sitting around to trade to fill in some holes. What we need to do is consolidate talent. Guys who are expendable in my mind and could net us something with the right deal are: Vlad Nunez, Abe Nunez, Mike Redmond (he will be too expensive as a backup catcher, and we have Castro who needs PT anyway), Justin Wayne, Blaine Neal. That may not look like a whole lot, but throw in a moderately-attractive prospect (not Bautista, Hutchinson, Cabrera, Levinski, Stokes - you get the picture) and we could get someone in return.

We do need a lefty bat that can hammer right handed pitching. I would rather us go for the best available run producer out there (Juan Gon anyone?). Then, instead of playing to stay in contention, we can actually start making strides to get in control of the race. We have done well so far, but we have a lot of stepping up to do...I think we can do it and I believe Beinfest has something up his sleeve...in the next few days we will see :thumbup ;)

You can't be serious? Toby "I've never proved myself in the MLB" Borland and "oooooooh I have this little tingle in my arm" Spoonybarger are the guys you think will carry us to the playoffs? Wake up and smell the coffee! We need guys who can get guys OUT NOW! not maybes and couldbes.

"When those two are healthy..." when exactly is that??? When can we count on these guys???? When??? When???? When???

uh yeah teams will be falling all over each other to get a shot at those guys....
