reporting in after a dry day here down in south florida after it looked like the sky was going to fall once again in the early morning. today was a different day than the regular routine. we had a meeting with the baseball alumni association and then began our stretch at 9:35. we were scheduled to start an intra-squad at 11:15, so after stretch the people who were playing in the game (which was mainly the prospects and non-roster invitees), stretched, threw, and took batting practice on the backfield. it was the cardinals day to have the stadium field, so we had to play on the back practice fields today. anyways, pitchers and the non-gamers were on one field, and everyone else playing in the games were on one field.

game time rolled around and nate bump had a pretty good outing to start. i was mostly in the bullpen warming up the next pitchers but from what i saw he did well for the 2 innings he threw. derek wathan did connect with the first pitch he saw to hit a homerun over the right field fence. alfonseca pitched and went 3 up 3 down. luke hagerty struggled with his command, but that's normal for a first outing. joe dillon hit a homerun off john reidling over the left field fence. mike colangelo went 2 for 2 with a walk. yarmando bazardo went 3 up 3 down - i caught his only inning of work. overall there were 4 pitchers for each team, with the starter going 2 innings, and each pitcher after that going one inning.

tomorrow we get to sleep in a little bit since jack [mckeon] said not to show up until 11:15. i'll be nice to not wake up at 7 am for once. we have miami tomorrow at i think 2:00 pm and dontrelle is slated to start.

all i got from here in florida. i'm off to run some errands and maybe catch my mid-afternoon nap.

This is outstanding. Great job Admin!! And thank you for participating Ryan! Good luck this spring training.

Great to see Joe Dillon connecting for a homerun! I am going to try to catch a spring training game during spring break.

Go Fish!!

This is great. Thanks Ryan and MB.com!

Nice to hear Bump (and Wathan and Bazardo) doing well.

Come on, Ryan. Capitalize, baby! :p

Very nice, Admin--good recruit. Ryan did a good job describing the scenario--so thanks to Ryan!

Admin=God

Ryan's so good you can hear the crack of the bat, the pop in the glove and....

I think I smell the grass!

Nice to have an honest, non-ego appraisal of what it's about.

And how aout Dillon? Cool!

WOW! That is awesome!

It would be nice if we could get a few players to make a journal. We could have a blog like section for the players journals :)

This is great stuff. I did not think this site was all that, but now I see that it really is.
