Posted May 14, 200520 yr Mckeon needs to get the peaNUTS out of his mouth and bench Lowell. This guy is way below the mendoza line and is absolutely killing the fish. He looks dejected before he even sees any pitches at the plate. This guy used to be my favorite player, but it is obvious he doesnt have it right now. He needs to sit a few games so he can refresh. He leads the majors in flyouts by like 15 and it seems like he grounds into double plays whenever a run is pertinent. Just look at his face when he is batting he looks depressed. His emotions rub off onto the rest of the team and the team(besides Dontrell) seems to have no emotion whatsoever. One cant help but feel bad for entire pitching staff as they get no support. I wonder what the marlins batting averages are against starting pitchers because it seems they can only muster runs when they inevitably get to the opposition's pen. I may be preaching to the choir over here , or this may be an uncalled for flame, but this year has been very unsatisfying from entertainment p.o.v and the team lack all emotion. That 9th inning with loduca(whom always givges a good at bat) and lowell and the automatic out gonzo was probably the easiest save of trevor hoffman's career. Where is the competition? I had to get this off my chest and im sure alot of people agree.
May 14, 200520 yr they get no support? lol we are on pace for 90+ wins.... chill out, Mikey will come around
May 14, 200520 yr Author Its one of those things where it doesnt feel like they win at all.....and when is the point where someone never comes around, like they dont have it anymore. His flyouts dont even go to the warning track anymore :o :thumbdown , roids?

May 14, 200520 yr He hit one to the track today. Do you even watch the games? Your spelling of "rediculous" is ridiculous.
May 14, 200520 yr First off, he is not way below the mendoza line. The Marlins are still winning games and doing well with Lowell in the lineup, so it's important for him to stay in the lineup and break out of it. Good luck getting people to agree with your opinions. They are more just bitching.
May 14, 200520 yr Author Ill give up my gripe in hopes that im the crazy here and that the rest of you are the sane ones.
May 14, 200520 yr Give the man time. I'm sure he hit below the Mendoza for a month last season. No one would give a damn if this happened in July instead of at the beginning of the year.
May 14, 200520 yr Think positive, maybe he'll be hot when someone else isn't doing too well, he's had some productive ABs/swings lately.
May 14, 200520 yr Author my main complete was really against Mckeon for leaving him in there, but i guess no one agreed with me that a few games on the bench might be refershing. I mean , judging from that one at bat where they intentionally walked Conine to pith to lowell, one could assume that nice swing for a double he had came due to his ability to channel and focus his psychology from some sort of hitting funk towards only anger. That swing that he had was the best hes had all year. Benching him might let him work these negative energies out or might give him this anger he needs to get through it.
May 14, 200520 yr I agree with you that Lowell should be sat for at least a game or two -- but who exactly do you want McKeon to start at third right now? Lenny Harris? The only productive bat off the bench that can play third is Easley -- and with Luis hurt that isn't an option. Someone might suggest moving Cabrera to third for a couple games -- but that just isn't realistic at this point. If Lowells struggles continue, i agree, he should be sat for a few games and hopefully help ease his mind.
May 14, 200520 yr once castillo gets healthy easley is more than capable of playing third base. if not, throw cabby in at third and conine in left or conine at third, he's started there before. mikey seemed to be hitting the ball well the last couple of games but maybe give him a day off if atheres a pitcher he hasn't faired well against coming up... and give the dude a break, this isn't a spelling bee forum, he's voicing his thoughts who cares if he spelled ridiculous rediculous or complete instead of complaint...we knew what he was talking about...give the new guy a break.

Cabrera at 3B is not going to happen. Lowell just faced a pitcher he was 0 for 7 against, and he hit the ball well. Give the man time, be happy he's cool now when we don't need him -as much- .. what if the team cools down as a whole (worse than they have) like those games last year we couldn't hit? I'd rather have him hitting later on, as he's usually a big 1st half guy, maybe his 2nd half numbers will be amazing. It's only May.
May 14, 200520 yr Some of you guys on here are really getting annoying with your insults on spelling and grammar...  Just because you don't see eye to eye with someone else's opinion doesn't mean you need to lash out and give personal attacks on the poster. Also, if you're going to go out your way just to post in a thread to insult another poster, please, please, please, become more creative. These close games we're losing will come back to haunt us. If Lowell isn't producing then he shouldn't be playing at the moment, simple.  According to most of you we have a bunch of 'studs' in the minors why not let them come up and start getting AB in for Lowell's inability to get consistant and see what we get. We know what we have with our Bench. If not we should start our fan favorite 'Mr. Marlin' in for Lowell.
May 14, 200520 yr I have faith in Mike, but I think timeoff for anyone in a slump can be a good thing. Im not saying sit him out 10 games in a row, but maybe 2-4 games wouldnt hurt.  And yea the Marlins are doing good and are on a pace to win 90+ games, but considering the bats that we have in that lineup, on paper we should be one of the best hitting teams in the majors. Were ranked 14th in the NL and 24th in all of baseball. And yea, I know we have the lowest ERA in the majors, but again: Im talkin' bats here! When you see names like Delgado, Cabrera, Lowell, Lo Duca, Conine; you think of individuals who can put up some respectable if not flat out great batting numbers coming from their positions. So to see them together on the same team and to be ranked this low, you just have to think they should be doing way better.  Yea yea, I know its early and yea yea, I know Delgado has been in the AL all his life, but the Marlins reps didnt put this team together to win games 2-1 on the strength of their pitching alone. I love Mike! I know hes not gonna be in a slump for long, but flippin' the lineup around a bit wont hurt, especially when we can give our pitching staff the extra breathing room they deserve.
May 14, 200520 yr Trade him for Giambi 772544[/snapback] The Yankees already made the mistake of getting rid of him. :plain
May 14, 200520 yr If ANYTHING stick lowell back in the 5 spot. He needs to see some real action.. Hes in the dead part of the line up.  COMMON LOWELLLIE!!!!!!!!

You know that they will comeback to earth. Willis will not finish the year 32-0 with a 1.08 ERA. Beckett and Burnett will probably finish in the high 2's low 3's. We are 6 games above five hundred with absolutely lights out pitching that will continue to be good but not that good. I don't think we are in such great shape. We cannot score runs consistently. We will start losing Willis games when he comes back to earth and a lot of games like last night when we get a solid but not outstanding start. Delgado needs to start driving the ball; Lowell needs to be benched for a week or so; Gonzalez needs to be benched; and we need Castillo back.  Look at the White Sox. They are pitching just as freakishly right now with as little hitting. But they are 27-9. We need the same pitching to be a few games above five hundred. Worrisome to say the least.

He was moved from the middle because he was killing too many rallies.
