Hurricane Katrina

Featured Replies

Two things I found funny.

-Channel 7 reporter swallowed either a bug or a leaf live on the air and tried to cough it up several times.

-Later on while two girls where goofing off (trying to get on TV) behind the reporter a gust of wind proceeded to knock over the girls and pwn them.

You know what I just realized? Yesterday was Hurricane Andrew's 15th anniversary.

In Florida you buy Wind Storm Insurance and Flood Insurance to cover for a Cane.

Oh BTW Das,

Like San Antonio is that close to the coast. Shut the f*** up.

what does san antonio have to do with this? i was talking about a sneeze of a storm, and wind storm insurance and flood insurance are not the same thing...you know the risks when purchasing a home in the area. live with it. if you dont know the risks you are stupid.

Not defensive, just tired of his crap. Das has never named the storms he was in and never said exactly where he was when it passed through.

As he said, Tropical Storm Allison almost ruined Houston with flooding and this storm is a bit stronger and can dump just as much rain. Yet being the hypocrite he is, he says we are getting our knickers wound up over a storm that is stronger than Allison and could dump just as much water over an area with over 100% of the normal rainfall.

BTW, another drop in pressure...it is getting stronger. 5PM coming out soon.

maybe if a storm would actually hit texas i could be in one. last one to really come anywhere near me and be anything more than a rain maker was gilbert in 89, when soem of you were just a toddler.

i'm a hypocrite. ya ok whatever.

i'm waiting for the cat 4 to hit texas. i will be in the eye of said storm.

San Antonio is inland, your are in San Antonio, therefore you are inland.

Wind storm and flood insurance combine to form "Hurricane" Insurance.

The risks are laid out in the sale via the tax/deed records. The elevation is taken during the survey.

Where is the eye supposed to hit?? Right now it looks damn close to North Broward.

Anywhere from Dolphins Stadium to Plantation looks to be getting some eye action.

Katrina is drifting southward, may make landfall in Miami, definetly the the Broward-Dade line.

The hurricane has offically made landfall (defined as when the center of circulation touches land) on the Dade-Broward line.

It is currently moving at 265 degrees (just south of west), which should bring the center right over Dolphins Stadium.

There's some pretty nasty stuff out right now. I guess were getting the stuff that just went through Deerfield. I went outside a while ago and there are lots of down branches.

I'm about to upload some pics I took from my driveway, I'm not sure how they came out, but i'll post some barring an power outages in the next couple of minutes

Unfortunately for us here in Dade, the center is moving a little more south of west. Down here in Kendall, about 20 miles southwest of the storm, it is getting very bad. Our power keeps flickering for longer periods of time, hope its not totally gone soon.

FPL is reporting 400,000+ customers without power right now (about equally distributed between Dade and Broward.)

Up to 80 MPH

2 dead in Broward; falling tree limbs killed both in seperate locations.

Its really nasty here as we are almost directly over the center. Its going to be an interesting night...

Flash Flood Warning issued.....until 1 AM....3-5" of rain per hour....Key Biscayne and Coral Gables.

You could see water starting to accumulate very soon.

Gust are very frequent right now, but the real powerful ones look to be gone for at least a little while. 15 minutes or so ago the gusts were pretty strong, of course nothing compared to the 90's gusts we saw in Francis that took down half the trees in town.

I'm listening to NBC 6's coverage via WQAM's stream here in Chicago. They are reporting that tens of thousands of FPL outages. Also, they said that MIA is still open!

NBC 6 just reported two deaths associated with Katrina, both in Broward. Each was a case of debris hitting people, causing each one their demise.

Everything calming down outside as the center prepares to go over my house. Just some twigs, leaves and branches on the ground.

Just outside my house.
