Never in my 37 years of being a sports fan has this ever been truer!!!!!

I really do wish to undertsand hoiw in the HELL (that is the hell we are in right now!) this can be justified.

As a major league owner take your freakin lumps or sell the team.

MLB has to step in it simply HAS TO!!!!! if not then MLB is more corrupt than Pete Rose betting on baseball ever was.

To Allow an owner to FLAGRANTLY allow his side to not have a chance to compete should mean forfeit of ALL REVENUE SHARING!!!! amd a hefty fine for breaking those rulse. But what does Bud Selig and the rest of his cronies do?. They're quieter than a yankees fan at the end of a certain october night in 2003!!!!!

Please, somebody, even God (divine intervention mate?!!!). do somehting this is excruciating!!!!!!!

Anybody that gets close to Samson, please try and get a lock of hair as i'll try and create a vodoo doll for our entertainment!!!! :thumbdown

I have been wondering why Selig has not made any comments...Didn't a commissioner once try to stop Oakland (Finley) years ago from a fire sale like this ?

That was Fay Vincent, Selig allowed '97/'98 to happen with the Marlins, he won't stop this one.

I think someone stopped Finley from Oakland once...he was trying to unload Reggie Jackson, Gene Tenace and anyone else who would take big contracts from him

Of course Selig is gonna let this happen, he probably helped them plan this whole "market adjustment."

If I remember right that was Bowie Kuhn.

thing was with that, he wasn't trying to prevent a fire sale, just trying to block him from selling off his players to other teams

this was basically done because Bowie Kuhn hated Finley, and when palyers were allowed to become free agents, Finley knew that he couldn't re-sign his players, otherwise he'd lose a lot of money, so Finley decided to sell off all his players, .Kuhn blocked him out of spite, told him that he couldn't just sell the players contracts, so Finley wound up trading the players for nobodies and cash to get around it

somebody try to email selig

we cannot lt this happend to our best sprts franchise

Because Bud actually reads his inbox. You might get a nice response from his secretary or intern.

Actually Finley tried to sell Rollie Fingers and Joe Rudi to the Red Sox and Vida Blue to Yanks in 1976 and was stopped by Bowie Kuhn. Finley was set to lose these players and more in the 76 off-season (The 1st year of FA) and he'd already traded Jackson. At least with these trades the Marlins are getting a player in return for their player.

That was when MLB had a real commissioner and not some lap dog...

I don't think that you can get a VooDoo doll of Sampson. They only come in one size and they're all taller than him. The pins are bigger too.
