Oh, baby! Britney Spears is taking her son's life in her hands.

The blond pop tart cruised down the Pacific Coast Highway yesterday in her SUV with 16-week-old Sean on her lap.

That's a no-no in California, whose law says kids "must be secured in an appropriate child-passenger restraint [a safety or booster seat] until they are at least 6 years old or weigh at least 60 pounds."

The picture is one of a series in which the background is clearly changing as, the photogragher says, Britney drives between Cross Creek and Los Flores ? about two miles.

The photographer told The Post that he came upon Britney at a Starbucks in the Malibu area at 1 p.m.

"I noticed she had the baby in her lap," he said. "Next thing I know, she was driving south on the PCH . . . I'm not sure if she was wearing a seat belt . . . I was surprised. She looked very relaxed ? like it was a normal thing to do."

The singer's bodyguard was in the front passenger seat.

Later, Britney's publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, declined to comment without having seen the photo.

A violation of the child-seat law carries a $270 fine.

Wow what a moron.

Airbag deployment=flying baby head.

yep ... besides, the kid should be in a carseat in the back of the vehicle so the part about a bodyguard taking up one seat isn't really necessary

definitely a stupid thing to do ... especially with the way people in CA drive

:o

cant say im surprised about anything this c**t does. when people are not ready to be responsible this kind of crap insues.

what a dumb b****. and to think i use to have a thing for her.

That kid's lucky she's loaded because otherwise she's one of the shityist mothers possible.

Whoever's in the car with her is the bigger idiot for letting this happen....

ps: She's not as hot now just as an ordinary mother.

whats more surprising....

that the kid is sitting in her lap in the drivers seat.

or

that she is actually driving.

question

Airbag deployment=flying baby head.

It doesn't even have to go that far. A mere, sudden application of the brakes (common during stop-and-go traffic, or to avoid a collision) is all that's needed to send the baby's head right into the steering wheel, causing a concussion that can easily kill him.

Very irresponsible behavior. But, let's face it, this isn't some sort of isolated celebrity phenomenon. I see people driving with toddlers unseated, unbuckled and even hanging out of windows, so often it's unsettling. :thumbdown

I read/heard somewhere that she says was parked somewhere and was playing with the baby on her lap, then had to drive away quickly because papparazzi were chasing her. Assuming that's true, I don't see why couldn't hand the kid to the person in the passenger's seat.

Poor kid's got two real winners for parents.

I predict many years in therapy and/or rehab for little Spears-Federline.

What happened to my favorite wet-dream?

I mean seriously, she is such a turnoff now. She is not aging gracefully--physically and mentally

Honestly, is anyone surprised?

What a piece of trash.

Darwin will take over soon enough.

Wow unbelievable. Stupid slut.

Britney defends driving with son on lap

Pop star: 'Horrifying, frightful encounter with paparazzi'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Britney Spears defended photographs showing the pop star driving with her infant son on her lap, saying she was dodging the paparazzi.

Several photos published Tuesday showed Spears driving her SUV with her son, Sean Preston, perched on her lap rather than strapped into a car seat in the back seat. Spears said she did it because of a "horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi."

The photos show Spears holding the wheel of the car with one hand, and her 4-month-old baby in the other. A person is shown sitting in the passenger seat next to Spears.

"I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger," Spears said in a statement released late Monday.

"I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us," she said. "I love my child and would do anything to protect him."

A spokesman for the Department of Children and Family Services, declined to offer any comment on the incident.

"We don't say who, what or if we're investigating," Stu Riskin said.

Sheriff's deputies, meanwhile, won't be pressing any charges, Deputy Luis Castro said.

"Unless a deputy saw the violation, there's nothing we can do," Castro said. "We don't even know if this took place in our jurisdiction."

The agency that snapped the photos, X17, said the pictures were taken "in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior."

"We believe that the pictures speak for themselves," the agency said in a statement.

Spears gave birth to her son in September. He is her first child with husband of one year, former backup dancer Kevin Federline.

Anyone else find irony in the bolded quote?

Wow, talk about not being fit to be a mother. i remember when he was first born, she had like 6 nurses in the room around the clock to take care of him. how lame.

What happened to my favorite wet-dream?

She married a freeloader who thinks he's the next Eminem, got pregnant and hasn't lost the baby weight.

I think she looks fine. I do hate how she has been lowering herself lately. *sigh* I know the paparazzi can be a bunch of jerks, but come on, she couldn't at least hand the baby to the dude next to her?

dumb bitch

:thumbup

Remember when she was hot?
