Still not that bad, could be worse, we still have alot of time to gain ground. The marlins have proven that they can really hit the ball. Remember, its still the start of the season, and we can get back to .500 or above very easy.

Looking at RS and RA it's easy to see that we just don't have the experience to close games out and win tight ones. We're not overmatched in the least bit. By the middle of this year we'll be winning close games. By early 2007 we'll be outscoring teams and winning close games. I honestly don't think we're far from an above .500 season.

i think whats really killing the team is the lack of production from CF known as the 8th spot in our lineup, but when Hermi comes back that should patch up nicely. we will turn around the close games, we been in each game so were breaking the assumptions that we would get blown back almost every game. the road trip will be a huge test for us, but its something we need to prove to ppl that we can play ball

Just sweep the cubs. If you want to totally make my week you'll sweep the cubs next week. DO IT!

I like the fact that we have hit. Last year we had what was supposed to be one of the best lineups and we always seemed to be clawing. We have also lost close games so if they went the other way we could be close to .500.

It's gotta make everyone feel better that we could easily be 5-6 or so.

Its feels a little better that they arent getting beat 10-0 every night. But they still are 3-8, and could easily drop to 6-14 by the end of the road trip.

thats what makes this so frustrating to me...if management just spent a couple mil more and gotten a couple of legit bullpen arms and a CF that is not way over their heads - this team COULD be....good! how exciting and new would it have been to see this team have moderate success with fresh blood like hanley ramirez, hermida, willingham, etc. all playing their hearts out?

i think over time - this team will become decent...once girardi figures out that eric reed and abercrombie belong nowhere near a major league field....once he figures out that matt herges should not be pitching in the 9th inning...once he figures out we have better options than brian moehler in the rotation (olsen, nolasco, johnson)

not trying to blame girardi, either. it takes a while for a new manager to evaluate the talent given to him. reminds me a bit of the panthers early this year - took jacques martin (top 3 coach in the NHL) to evaluate the team - they were horrible early on, just terrible. they slowly improved, finished the year on a tear but a little too late to make the playoffs. i forsee the panthers being one of the better teams in the NHL next year if everything goes as planned....i dont think the marlins will be that good, but we should see significant improvement as the year goes on.

I expected it so I'm not too distraught.

They are making a ton of mistakes in the early games....much more than I would have anticipated really.

Once they settle down they'll pick up the pace a bit.

3-8 calculated through the entire season roughly measures out to 42-120. Just so you know.

What does 3-9 calculate to?

i still say we win 70 games, we will go on a tear after the all star break, I do expect this team to get a little worse before it gets better though.

Hey I'm a Marlins fan, it's not like I'm trying to bad talk the team or anything. I'm just saying that 3-8 is nothing to really be optimistic about with a bunch of rookies on the team.

The future is bright (assuming these guys stay, of course,) but this is gonna be a long year record-wise. Let's just watch the development of young players and forget about W's and L's this year.

For all the comments about the offense and comparing it to last season's: so far it's been about the same as the 2005 team in terms of, some nights are huge but for the most part they're getting shut down. The difference is that last year we had players who had proven they could produce through a full season, this year we don't. Whether that means that Willy and Hanley will be shut down once pitchers figure them out, or that the other guys will adjust and improve, we'll have to see.

For the most part, though, I can't say I've seen much from this team that has made me optimistic for this year, though I definitely can tell that in a couple years we could have something.

Exactly no way this team finishes close to .500. Just watch the kids play. The only things I want to see is

1-Get a stadium in Florida

2- Dump Moehler, Herges, Borowski by the all star break
