April 29, 200620 yr Okay. This Reggie Abercrombie guy is killing me. When should we say enough is enough and send him back to the minors? Is he in a slump or is this just the real Reggie? Should we wait longer and see if he turns it around? He looks lost at the plate. I could deal with him for a few days if Jeremy was coming back Monday but he is probably not coming back until sometime later next week. Sorry if we had another thread like this.
April 29, 200620 yr I think you answered your own question. When is enough enough? Right now. Bring up Shanks or another outfielder (not that anyone in the minors is the answer right now, purely as a stopgap) who can at least make contact and put the ball in play. I wouldn't mind Reggie flying or gounding out with regularity but he can't even do that, unfortunately for him and the team (not to mention us fans), he totally overmatched. Ditto Reed. It's unfair for the team to be so woefully undermanned off the bench. Girardi has few choices and for all the complaining about the guy, I for one, and I'm usually willing to give the GM his way, thinks Admin Beinfest could be doing alot more to populate the roster with a high caliber of reserve players.
April 29, 200620 yr Not even a month has gone by and you are already giving up on Abercrombie. Abercrombie is our best bet right now. At least when he hits the ball he hits it well. Reed can't even bunt. And Aguila...well...is struggling mightily.
April 29, 200620 yr Of the three stooges (Aguila, Reed, Abercrombie) I'd still rather see Reggie get the AB's. All three are putrid, but you know that Reggie's got speed and has the ability to get into one. I mean, if all are below .250, you go with the guy who can hit it a country mile.
April 29, 200620 yr I'd send Reed down before Abercrombie. At least Reggie had that monster shot at Great American Ballpark! Reggie has more potential than Reed, it's just very unclear whether he'll achieve it.
April 29, 200620 yr In no way am I suggesting Aguila or Reed above Abercrombie. The team has a problem. Abercrombie = automatic out. Reed = automatic out, Aguila = semi-automatic out. For all the love showered on Abercrombie he's hit one homerun, one, and one hit in the last week, where he's hitting .071. This isn't good for him or the team. Have I seen enough? Yes I have.
April 29, 200620 yr Out of the 3 Abercrombie has the most potential. That's why you send down Abercrombie. Let him get some ABs and get his confidence back up in the thin air of Albuquerque and maybe he'll be useful for us later in the year.

April 29, 200620 yr Nope of theese guys is the answer to Cf send Kool Aid down to get some AB :whistle
April 29, 200620 yr I agree with Jeremy Hermida #1 fan. None of these guys are a long term answer. And I truly believe its almost a guessing game as to which one of these guys is the best answer at this point in time given the Marlins situation. Personally I would stick with Aguila simply for his fielding abilities.
April 29, 200620 yr Send Reggie and Reed to the minors Keep Aguila at CF. Enough is enough? we will be singing the same tune many times this year, on many areas of the team
April 29, 200620 yr with all due respect, Reggie has all of 52 at bats, and while he isnt ready, you gotta believe he gets atleast 100 before he goes down atleast he has shown a real strong arm in CF, and he does bust his butt down the line every time he puts it in play(yes, all players should do this but we know they dont) keep playing him... it's not like he is ruining rallies like Mike Jacobs(who I dont think should be sent down either)
April 29, 200620 yr i agree that kool aid should be sent down to get ABs but i cant stand Reed...his only tool is speed which makes him an alright Cfer but he has no arm.... he can't bunt and Hell will freeze over before Reed hits it out of the infield...and when we pinch run with him he gets picked off.
April 29, 200620 yr aguila has proven himself to be a mediocre benchplayer at best. abercrombie and reed haven't had enough time yet. i'd send reed down when hermy comes back. can't wait to see #27 out there again

It's time for him to be sent down. Keep playing him until Hermida comes back but the second Hermida is activated then to the Isotopes he goes.

April 29, 200620 yr this year is going to be rough but the purpose is to find out which young players are legit players and which are not I dont think we can say Abercrombie is or is not a legit mlb player on the basis on less than one month of playing ......besides who are we going to replace him with? If the guy stinks lets find out for sure because i dont want this guy catching on with another team and becoming a quality pro and us to regret making a hasty decision
April 30, 200620 yr Abercrombie and Reed need to be sent down and develop for a season or two. They are struggling mightly and this can affect them and us in the future.
April 30, 200620 yr we keep trying the player that not belong to MLB mean we keep playing the spring training game, right ???

Plus he has a long, loopy swing with no power. He got all of one tonight and it was only a routine ball to the CFer.
