April 29, 200620 yr Notes: Jacobs frustrated with himself Marlins first baseman upset he hasn't produced more runs By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com MIAMI -- By his own estimation, Mike Jacobs should be at the 20-RBI mark right now. Some haste and overaggressiveness have cost the Marlins first baseman. Batting .197 with three home runs and 12 RBIs entering Friday's play, Jacobs is most frustrated by missed chances. With runners in scoring position and less than two outs, he is hitting at a .118 clip (2-for-17). Those two hits have been home runs. "I could easily have 20 RBIs right now," Jacobs said. "I've had so many opportunities with guys on base and less than two outs. "When we've had guys in scoring position, where I've needed a ground ball or a sac fly ball, I've missed out on almost every single one of those opportunities. I think that's the most frustrating part." In his first full season, Jacobs is noticing he's being pitched to a bit differently than last year when he was with the Mets. "I think so," he said of how he is approached. "I think I've been a little too aggressive. I don't think I've seen a lot of good pitches to swing at. When I do get that opportunity on one or two pitches in that at-bat, I'm not doing what I should be. I'm not putting it in play hard. I don't think I've been pitched to any tougher, I just think I've been a little bit too aggressive." http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla They say the first step in any rehabilitation is to admit your mistakes and recognize only you can fix what's wrong. Sounds like he's in the process of doing just that.
April 29, 200620 yr i really hope he turns it around. he can have a HUGE impact on this team if he just gets it together.

April 29, 200620 yr Putting Jacobs further down the lineup could help take the pressure off him. He needs to relax and not be so impatient. That's probably easier said than done.

April 29, 200620 yr he'll figure it out. one thing i've noticed is he's got a major uppercut on each and every swing. you can hit everything out of the park. i can't wait till he and hermy are hitting the ball well

April 29, 200620 yr so give the playing time to Stokes ... Jacobs shouldn't be starting day in & out and I would still give some playing time to Helms (yes I like winning ballgames) CF I could understand because we dont have a legitimate option, heck we dont even have someone average that could make an attempt at getting the job done. make the guys fight to play in the major leagues ... if you want to play then perform like you should, if you are just getting fooled then go get fooled at the level you should be in.
