Posted April 30, 200618 yr Why does Girardi continually put Herges into close games!!! I understand that he's a veteran and has experience, but he is a situational pitcher (and not even a good one). Girardi has him pitching 1+ innings at a time it is coting us the game. F HERGES
April 30, 200618 yr I don't understand Herges constantly playing. I don't understand moving Hanley to second and Uggla to sixth when Amezaga plays. I don't understand using all but one hitter on your bench before the ninth inning. I don't understand pinch hitting for a reliever (who has a starter arm) with another pitcher just to bunt even though it worked by accident. I don't understand consistently pinch running at times when pinch running isn't necessary. I don't understand not calling for a bunt with two outs, the bases loaded, tying run on third, the first baseman playing back, a lefty on the mound, and a strikeout hitter up. I don't understand letting Eric Reed play. I don't understand not getting on your hitters' cases for swinging at the first pitch after walks. I don't understand Joe Girardi.

April 30, 200618 yr Team sucks, that's all there is to it. Girardi is trying to do magic, whether the moves make sense or not, because the way the team is playing and losing these games makes no sense either...or maybe, because they just suck and they will lose 110 games, that's why it makes sense.

April 30, 200618 yr I wonder how long it is going to take Girardi to realize Herges is not a 2 inning pitcher. Girardi seems to be either a slow learner or damn obstinate.

HE CAN'T DO IT JOE... let him f***ing swing the bat
April 30, 200618 yr I honestly expected the offense to be more productive than they've been. Their ability to hit in the clutch is terrible. The other team's bullpens are having a field day with them.
April 30, 200618 yr That is a possibility. Maybe that way we can get all 30 picks in the first round of the draft. You think they'll let us do that? Please!?

The other team's bullpens are having a field day with them. Well it's essentially been Hanley, Uggla, Cabs, & Willingham and then a wormhole in space-time appears and sucks up every pitch thrown towards home plate. Hopefully once Hermida returns everyone moves down a slot, & Olivo as a #7 batter isn't bad.
April 30, 200618 yr i think we going break the team record for lost in one season See my thread on win loss projection based on month of April
April 30, 200618 yr Yes, Herges sucks and gave up a HR but even if he doesn't, we would have still lost. We had our chances to tie this game but couldn't.
April 30, 200618 yr Didn't matter today. Even if he didn't give up the homer, it would've been 2-1. The next time he actually blows a game, then I'll complain.

Juanky...I am in full agreement. Btw, how about this...we have all gotten on hi for PR'ing too early for his top hitters. Why no PR for Jacobs in the 7th when he was on 2nd and then 3rd with 1 out?
April 30, 200618 yr I don't understand Jeff Loria. do you make a daily Loria-bash post? That is affirmative.
May 3, 200618 yr Just what does it take for Girardi to figure it out? Put this one totally on Girardi's shoulders.
