June 4, 200620 yr i remember during the Mets series they said something about the Mets using the new batting helmets and the Fish were still using the old ones. on ESPN, all the baseball highlights i've seen have batters wearing the new ones. so uh... are we the only team without the new batting helmets?

June 4, 200620 yr I think the Mets are actually one of the few teams where the entire team wears them. Its optional, each player can wear whichever one they want. Personally I think they are ugly. SO QUIT LOOKING FOR EXCUSES TO BASH SOMEONE!!!
June 5, 200620 yr Its about 50/50 The mets are the only team with the multicolored helmets. I havent seen any players on teams that have them wearing the old style. I wouldnt be shocked to see all teams wearing the new style by next year anyway.

June 5, 200620 yr I'm indifferent to the helmet issue. New ones look neat but I don't have any problem with the old ones so whatever management wants to do is fine with me.
June 6, 200620 yr Yeah, I think it is optional because not all the mets were wearing them. The new helmets are useless anyway.
