Olsen is showing that he can and will be a solid starter for us. This is his 3rd quality start for us in a row. Olsen is an excellent looking sothpaw. He was outstanding tonite 7.0 ip 2 hits 1 run allowed 8 k/1bb. We will continue to see more stats like that from him throughout this season. Olsen for Gathright?...how wrong would that have been?

That start is right up there with the most impressive of the season that I've seen.

 

I'd list this one next to Dontrelle's complete game 6-hitter vs the Giants, Nolasco shutting out the Rockies in Coors over 8 innings, & Josh Johnson's brilliant outing beating Pedro & the Mets.

 

5 Ks in a row at one point. Funny that Olsen was actually worried during warmup that his pitches weren't going where he wanted.

Sometimes a person needs to be embarrassed in order to clear is his head and get back to what make him successful. I just hope he can keep it up and really establish himself as the next big lefty in our starting rotation.

I think they are going to give Moehler every opportunity to remain a starter, but I think Mitre will take his spot upon his return.

You barely gave him enough outing. If I remember correctly, he had the best start from all of the Marlins starter. You people only say he stink because his last outing was at pittsburg where everyone fail. Herge being himself as usual, Willis evil clone, cocky Olsen doesn't listion to the catcher, Moehler :plain , the guy we use to hate Messenger, Kensing our fail prospect during that time with the others long list of fail prospect pitchers, Nolasco with his good 4 innings and then turn to crap, etc...

Let me get this straight... You say Mitre stuff is horrible but you like Nic Ungs? :blink:

Mitre gets slapped around in Dolphin Stadium and Ungs is doing pretty darn good out there in that launching pad in Albaquerque.

 

Stuff doesnt always matter(altho Mitre's stuff sucks) if you know how to pitch.

Did you see Mitre first 3-5 outing with the Marlins uniform on. He had a ERA of 2.50 something. It only take 1 crucial outing to destroy your ERA but Mitre haven't pitch many games so he can still easily turn it around.

Moehler and his 7.17 ERA in 11 games should not be given too many more chances, I hope

Anyways, Olsen has been pitching great. I didn't see the game last night but saw a few of the highlights and it seems like he had some awesome stuff last night. Joe has handled him great. Seems like a lot of his early struggles may have been mental. Hopefully he can continue to do a great job
