The Official "Hanley Get Well Soon!" Thread

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the extent of his injury? I watched the game on FSN, but they never said anything as to what it might be. It looked to me like he hurt his tailbone pretty bad.

All we've heard is he left the game with a stiff lower back - no news yet of any fractures

Take it easy Hanley, get well bud.

so far listed as day to day, more results will be tomorrow maybe if not we will no for sure by tuesday. if its just day to day he will prolly be out the Braves series and come back for the weekend.

I heard it was day-to-day. Rich and Tommy said hopefully he will be back Tuesday. They would have not said that if he was really hurt. kwim?

this suks, he was just sitting there for a while -so he was obviously in a great deal of pain. when he was coming off the field he was wincing and almost collapsed on sean cunningham (ATC). i hope he's ok. i wish some of the fans would of helped him out...

Well the Marlins website says that X-Rays game back negative and he could be back as early as Tuesday. I don't know if I'd rush back that quickly, but the news is certainly encouraging. :thumbup

:thumbup Great news. I hope he doesnt come back Tuesday. He has to be 100%.

I wonder if we're gonna see Andino soon. We don't quite have the roster flexibility we did have 3 weeks ago unless we send a guy like Petit or Abercrombie down, or we release Herges.

Probably not because Hanley is able to come back Tuesday so I doubt it. We have an offday tomorrow so Hanley can lay in bed all day and rest.

Ramirez injured for Marlins

X-rays reveal no serious damage for rookie shortstop

SAN DIEGO -- A scary moment for Marlins rookie Hanley Ramirez may not be as worrisome as the incident appeared.

Ramirez was assisted off the field Sunday afternoon after being bumped into the stands down the third-base line in the fifth inning. But an X-ray revealed no serious damage, and the 22-year-old shortstop could possibly be back in the lineup as early as Tuesday.

Off on Monday, the Marlins open a three-game series with the Braves on Tuesday at Dolphin Stadium.

"Hanley's OK," manager Joe Girardi said with relief. "He was X-rayed and he's fine. He's a little sore. He just kind of banged his back. We'll see how he feels on Tuesday."

While chasing a fly ball that dropped for a single by San Diego's Josh Bard, Ramirez collided with left fielder Cody Ross, who accidently stepped on the shortstop's foot.

Even though Ross didn't hit Ramirez hard, the shortstop was bumped backward over a short wall into the stands. The 22-year-old landed among fans and remained down for several minutes.

"I fell right on the bone, right on my lower back," Ramirez said. "When I hit the wall, I fell right on the concrete. As soon as I hit the concrete, I couldn't even move. When the ball hit the ground, I tried looking back, and he stepped on my foot. Hopefully, I'll feel better tomorrow."

"It was weird because it was kind of after the fact," Ross said. "The ball landed and we were all kind of slowing down. It wasn't like I was trying to catch the ball and we collided. What happened was I stepped on his foot, and my momentum took him and pushed him into the gate. I guess he hurt his back when he did that.

"It was kind of a freak deal. That was weird, because we were kind of right on the line when it happened. The ball kind of hit and we hit, and I caught the ball [on a bounce]. I looked back and wondered, 'Where is Hanley?' He was in the seats. I knew it hurt him because he's a tough guy. He would have gotten right up if it didn't hurt him."

After being tended to by trainer Sean Cunningham, Ramirez walked slowly a few feet, holding his lower back. He was assisted off the field by Cunningham and Girardi.

One of the most productive rookies in the National League this season, Ramirez is batting .293 with three home runs, 20 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.

The stiff back isn't expected to land Ramirez on the disabled list. If he isn't ready Tuesday, Alfredo Amezaga likely would start at shortstop.

:lol :lol That totally cracked me up.

It's great to learn Hanley's injury isn't serious. Still, it is too bad he is getting so beat up recently when he was having such a great season.

He injured making a wild swing on an outside pitch from the Braves' Chris Reitsma last month, then, once he comes back from that, he injures his hand after getting hit by a pitch when he played against the Cubs and now today's injury.

Luckily he is young and can recover relatively quickly from these injuries, but don't expect the All-Star-like numbers to be put up (right off the bat) once he comes back and then on out.

Does anyone know how Andino is doing im not to high on the kid though

If Hanley needs a couple extra days rest past Tuesday... we'll see Amezaga start at SS and some combo of Hermida and Willingham (if he is ready) with Ross/Borchard/Abercrombie taking that third spot in the OF (probably Ross since he has the hot bat right now). No need for an Andino callup at this point.

With the way Amezega has been playing, I say lets give Hanley till Wednesday or so. He needs the rest anyway.

Totally agree. Amezega is a manager's dream. He can play so many positions off the bench and play them all well. They were even saying during the game he has a far better glove at 1B than Jake, which dosen't surprise me. Jake is learning the position but right now I would say Helms has a better glove at 1B than Jake. But that's another discussion all together.

Let Hanley get the rest. However long it takes. The whole Braves series if it is needed.
