June 18, 200719 yr so wats the deal with mike......i know they said 7-10 days but has been played in rehab games yet and when should he be back?
June 18, 200719 yr Their saying he's going to get about 4 - 5 rehab games in Jupiter. I would probably expect him sometime during the middle of the Homestand.
June 18, 200719 yr he is playing to night in jupiter monday to thurseday and should be back on friday i wiss him well. any one going to try and make a game in jupiter
June 19, 200719 yr The Marlins could really use that big left handed stick. Hopefully he can stay healthy the rest of the season.
June 20, 200719 yr Jacobs is another spotty power hitter. While he might add a few more runs, he's not going to turn around the line up by any means. Another high strike out potential guy......
June 20, 200719 yr oh noes strikeouts are teh worstest!11!!1 Mike Jacob will be huge for our lineup because he's a good hitter. Period. Not great, but he's better than any other option we have at first, and he's a pretty good hitter.
June 20, 200719 yr he went 1-4 today in Jupiter actually he went 1/4 yesterday, he is currently 0/2 r bb tonight
June 20, 200719 yr Its likely that Boone will have less extended droughts than Mike. Jacobs is notorious for getting himself in a 2 strike count faster than you can say Olivo. His return will signal a very slight improvement defensively at 1B and more power/less consistency at the plate. Meh.
June 20, 200719 yr Whoa, Seth Etherton started for Jupiter tonight. Thats a blast from the past, he used to be a top prospect
June 20, 200719 yr Author so how did jake end up doing??????/....his defense at first has improved and it only helps becuase now we can rest booneand he can spell miggy and jake
June 20, 200719 yr so how did jake end up doing??????/....his defense at first has improved and it only helps becuase now we can rest booneand he can spell miggy and jake 0/4, R, BB, K
June 21, 200719 yr like Don said, heck Boonie's been hitting so well I'm not sure how much of a boost this will be. It'll be good to get him back regardless because the bench becomes stronger.
June 21, 200719 yr Author trust me mike will add the boost and it only allows us to use boone even more
June 21, 200719 yr like Don said, heck Boonie's been hitting so well I'm not sure how much of a boost this will be. It'll be good to get him back regardless because the bench becomes stronger. I think allowing Boone to a super-sub plus having him as one of the first bats off the bench will be huge. (Plus, I still have my fingers crossed that Jake coming back means no more gimmick lineup)
June 21, 200719 yr Jacobs will be an improvement at first base. He can handle bad throws from Hanley and Miggy much better than Boone.
June 21, 200719 yr Jacobs will be an improvement at first base. He can handle bad throws from Hanley and Miggy much better than Boone. We're talking about Mike Jacobs right?
June 21, 200719 yr Jacobs will be an improvement at first base. He can handle bad throws from Hanley and Miggy much better than Boone. My goodness no.
June 21, 200719 yr Jacobs will be an improvement at first base. He can handle bad throws from Hanley and Miggy much better than Boone. Jacobs is a terrible defender. The only upside to him is his power at the plate. Other than that, he's pretty empty.
June 23, 200719 yr Jacobs went 2-4 with a HR today for Double A Carolina. He should be back very, very soon.
June 23, 200719 yr He actually looked pretty adequate at first base until he got injured (in comparison to last year). And that .845 OPS he put up really sucked. :whistle Jacobs is much better than people give him credit for. If he can ever stay healthy, he has the tools to be a better-than-average starter. Edit: You know it's really terrible that we can't find a place for Boone's bat once Jacobs comes back. That .390 OBP would look fantastic in the 2 hole. My ideal lineup positions notwithstanding: 1. Hanley 2. Boone 3. Cabrera 4. Jacobs 5. Uggla 6. Willingham 7. Hermida 8. Amezaga/Caroll
