July 30, 200719 yr ESPN news just posted a list of first time eligibles... a few I noticed were Chuck Finley, Dave Justice and Robb Nen... Of course there are other people that didn't make it in this or last year and so on... so, who makes it next year?

July 30, 200719 yr 2008 is a staggeringly weak class. David Justice might be the strongest of the eligible players and he has about a 0% chance. This is Goose's best shot - same probably goes for Rice and an outside chance for Dawson. If I were a gambling man, I'd bet on Goose Gossage. On a side note - Ricky will be voted in 1st Ballott in 2009.

July 31, 200719 yr Gossage and TIM RAINES. His numbers are the best of any eligible player who is on the ballot for the first time in 2008. I would like to see Dawson get in, but I'm not so sure that he's going to get it.

Gossage was great for several years, all-star and high on the saves list, but held on way too long after his fastball was gone. Rice was never friendly with reporters and stands a better chance with veterans committee and sad to say Dawson was better with reporters but other than 1987 never approached sustained greatness and will fair better with vets too. Big Mac will get there someday I still think thats a few years away.
