Carlos Guevara screwballer

Featured Replies

Carlos Guevara, RHP, CIN

Guevara has a good arm, but he?s one of the few guys in pro baseball that still throws a screwball, and because the pitch has kind of been phased out, scouts aren?t high on him. His numbers have been excellent, and he?s racked up a ton of strikeouts in the minors. He?s only 25 going on 26, so he?s not a castoff just yet. If the Phillies take him and try to turn him into something he isn?t, then it won?t work, but if they let him do his thing, he could be a nice 6th inning reliever.

Thanks for the info. Luis Arroyo any of you older fans out there.

Those are some nice numbers. His K rate is really high, and his ERA has been consistenly low. The numbers he put up at every level suggests to me that they should have moved him up quicker than they did. Here's hoping that we found a reliever version of Dan Uggla.

Following Rule 5 draft in AAA level.

Marlins picks SS Smelin Perez from PIT' AAA team.

are you smelin what David Samson is cookin?

I'm not drawing comparisons to the man but to the pitch and there were nights when mecir would come in and was unhittable, toally and completely unhittable. I look at this guy's numbers and did before the draft and you have really like those SO totals. Yes, it AA but for $50k he's worth a look.

He should only turn out as well as Soria last year.

At 2nd round of AAA level,

Marlins picks OF Daron Roberts from CWS' AAA team.

It's kinda "Jai Miller-type" guy, I think.

Also, Malins picks 2 players in AA level.

1st round : Kenny Fernandez from PHI

2nd round : Adalberto Mendez from CUBS

(These are reliever-type pitcher)

It seems we did NOT lose any player in Rule 5 draft (including Major-AAA-AA level)

We sent Guevara to the Padres

Mexicans are bigger fans of Guevara anyways.
