February 20, 200818 yr Wow, I am a Marlin fan and I think Eric Neel should be fired. He has the Florida Marlins ahead of the Boston Red Sox?!?!?! Am I not reading enough of the article? Is this some sort of early April fools joke?
February 20, 200818 yr It's a joke. It has to be. It's the only possible explanation...unless the guy is a total moron.
February 20, 200818 yr real power rankings http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/powerRankings #29... right above the royals
February 20, 200818 yr I'm surprised people are so high on the diamondbacks As said so often in the playoffs last year, more runs given up then scored last year Sure Haren and a healthy Randy Johnson make them a lot better but 4th best team in the majors? common
February 20, 200818 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=neel/080219 The Marlins are ranked 12th and the Red Sox at 16th ? Bro I want some of what he is smokin'
February 20, 200818 yr real power rankings http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/powerRankings #29... right above the royals Well I still see us better than the Giants, but our rotation is shaky. Miller has to deliver, no question about that, or we're sunk.
February 20, 200818 yr It's not a real power ranking...it's a power ranking based on the gossipy "page 2" qualifications. In other words, kyle kendrick's prank is better than the boston red sox's "no news" offseason, which placed them solidly in the middle of the pack. Obviously its humor, and Cody Ross is not ACTUALLY making us a contender by having technologically dubious hamstring surgery. I think that its a measure of how silly the power rankings' descriptions usually are that so many people thought this was a real power ranking.
February 20, 200818 yr lmao @ the thread starter thinking this was real. lmao @ the Mets thinking they were gonna make the playoffs last year.

February 21, 200818 yr I'm surprised people are so high on the diamondbacks As said so often in the playoffs last year, more runs given up then scored last year Sure Haren and a healthy Randy Johnson make them a lot better but 4th best team in the majors? common I don't really mind them at 4. I think the top three is a clear Bos, LAA, Clev, but after that everyone has questions. I don't think Detroit's pitching will hold up. I think the Yankees young pitching needs to grow up and they need to get rid of the elders. I think Seattle will just not be good. White Sox have junk pitching. The three NL East teams all have skeptical rotations past their aces, plus the Mets have a skeptical lineup that could fall apart from age (alou, delgado) and performance questions (church, schneider, delgado, reyes OPS massively dropped last year). I can't really argue Milwaukee because I love that team, but Houston has no rotation, Cincy's kids need to grow up, and Chicago could be good I guess if their SP doesn't tank. Which brings it to the West where Ubaldo, Cook, Francis, Hirsh, or Morales doesn't scare me. Maddux, Wolf, and Prior? The Giants entire offense? I kind of like the Dodgers though, if they are serious with not playing Pierre that much, and assuming LaRoche takes over at some point, and one of Schmidt/Loaiza can throw 25 starts. They have a great farm to go get pieces if need be too. So that brings the DBacks. I don't view it as just the two SP. There's a good probability Drew, Upton, and Owings will have significant improvements. It's Young getting his OBP back to minor league levels. It's Chad Tracy and Chris Burke (he does hit lefties pretty hard) on their bench. It's their severely under rated bullpen that's 5 deep, and could be 6 or 7 deep if some of their kids pan out. Arizona got lucky last year, no arguments there, but this year I don't see a regression because they are improving all over the place. You got to respect Milwaukees 1-7 lineup, but can you really put that staff against this staff? That's about it for me. Webb, Haren, and Randy for 90-100 starts is pretty damn serious. I don't see 56 scrub starts from Livan, Petit, E. Gonzalez, and Eveland on that staff this year, which is what would catch up to them. Yea, Davis has a huge whip. But I still like him (as in back of rotation) because he can miss bats. Post stats were respectable. Even he could bust out his 04/05 again by dropping the walks by 1 a game, and god damn, is Arizona's staff going to be nasty if something like that happens. Anyways, yea. 4? Don't really mind. EDIT: I actually just clicked the link now, and Detroit # 1? Their southpaw starters suck, Bonderman is who knows at this point, and Verlander is still on my 'arm blow out' list because of his two year massive inning jump compared to years prior. Pun intended. Plus you gotta love a bullpen with two loogys, 5 jerks, and an injured Zumaya. I have a much bigger problem with that ranking, than the DBacks 4.
February 22, 200818 yr This guy is under the false impression that Ross is Superman. Please tell me this is a joke! How did the White Sox make 3rd and how in any possibl universe are the Indians ranked 22 not to mention UNDER baltimore?! The worst part is that Houston is ranked last despite having arguably the best offense in the NL!
