Before we got these seats I would have agreed 100% with you guys. So I understand where you are coming from. I wait til after an inning to head up for whatever. And alot of times then I run up the steps. Coming back down I wait til after an out and move as quickly as I can. And before we got aisle seats I would squat down at my row and wait for the next out before I asked folks to get up so I could get through. It's proper baseball etiquette (did I just mangle that spelling???) and should be enforced by stadium officials. But they aren't our stadium "guys."

It isn't the volume that bothers my son or me for that matter, it was the tone of the people around us that made him upset. He knows the difference between loud cheering and just obnoxious people that were clearly making everyone around us upset. My son loves yelling "CHARGE," he loves the loud boos, and he was joining me in a chant of "CHOKERS CHOKERS" to the group of Mets fans with the "Shea Stadium South" sign. He also yelled with me "CHEATER CHEATER" at Barry Bonds last year. For heavens sake, we were at Citizens Bank Park last year at a Marlins game and we both had a blast with all the Phillies fans who were clever in their taunting, not malicious! But when he saw me talking to the guy and how the guy completely disrespected me in front of my son by the way he responded and how the lady sitting to my left that was saying the same thing to that group and how he disrespected her as well, he knew that those people were no longer "nice." I knew when he emphasized "loud" when he told me when we got home. It wasn't the volume. Remember, he's only 4yrs old.

 

What is most sad is that the Mets fans with the "Shea Stadium South" sign really weren't that much of a pain until the group in Row 14 arrived. It was apparent some of them were not interested in a ball game, but only to justify their masculine inadequacies by picking a fight with anyone. What was most sad was that the most obnoxious of them were Marlins fans, not Mets fans!

throw some alcohol in them and they become animals.....years ago in Yankee Stadium a drunk guy would not shut up and a guy told him to pipe down and the DG went to the concession stand , picked up the jar of mustard (the one with the pump on top) and proceeded to squirt mustard all over the guy, before he was ejected. thats a true story....or the guys who threatened me and my friends at Bat Day because we told them to shut up.......

I act the same way you do, even when the ushers let people thru in the middle of at bats, I wait, my family waits, and if I take anyone, they wait. But, before we rap marlin fans, just watch the "knowledgeable" fans of other teams in our stadium, be it mets, yankees, red sox, cubs etc-they get up and stand and move about regardless of the situation, and it is the same in many stadiums I have been to. Just like a lot of things that are negative, for some reason, people down here act as if only the bad things occur in S. Florida-regardless of what it is and no where else.

 

It may sound that way but I'm really not rapping Marlins fans on this one. Well, maybe a little. But I also see other fans doing the same thing and had a pretty bad time in Lakeland this Spring because of the Tigers and Indians fans doing the same, and even worse things. I put most of the blame on the security people. Partial blame on all fans for not knowing they shouldn't. But I think those of us that go to games on a regular basis know and follow the routine. Of course there will always be the fan that thinks it's all about him/her and screw everyone else. For the most part tho I think it is just that the casual fan just dosen't know.

I didn't really hear the guy. Or the ones that got tossed in the 5th. I have an ear plug in (right ear...wife sits to my left and it's never a good idea to block your wife's comments out about anything LOL) to listen to the radio during the games for one thing. He was behind SoFla and he sits in row 15. Nice seats, especially since he is on the aisle, but kinda far back for me to hear what goes on behind him unless I pay particular attention to it.

No I haven't. Haven't eaten there yet. Was having a few beers Monday. Little out of the norm for me at games because the wife dosen't like to drive on the TP, but it was Opening Day. I did notice they moved the grill that does hot dogs and sausage over next to the ramp at Gate H (Strike Zone gate) and behind the Fan Club and Season Ticket sales stands. Those are the best in the park. Not open on Saturdays or Jewish holidays tho because it is a kosher stand. I'm not Jewish, but I don't care for boiled dogs or sausage. The fresh cut sandwich stand is still where it was last year. That's a good one. The Spanish place was closed but the menu didn't list the pulled pork sandwich that I liked so much last year.

 

BTW How was the other foods on the 200 level??

Drunk kids + Mets fans, its going to happen, the kid your talking about gets kicked out every-time he goes to the games, he doesn't understand. He's on like 5 different medications, plus absolutely wasted. We dropped a keg in the parking lot, he couldn't hold himself like usual. I was surprised when the mets fans were kicked out as well. The group I was with was causing all the problems. I guess a Marlins fan won't get kicked out because of a met fan.

I apologize for my friend, I was the big kid in the Willingham jersey sitting with them. It was inappropriate of him to use that kind of language in front of all those kids, but he's a lose cannon. Sorry.

 

Well, you should be ashamed of your friend's behavior and for not simply telling him, "Hey, buddy cool it." Thanks to him and the others that were definitely instigated by his antics (because it was not that bad in our section before you guys got there over an hour after the game started), my son (who loves going to games) told me when we got home, "Daddy, I don't want to go to games when people are loud like that!" He's never said that before, and everyone here knows that my son goes to every game with me and we have season tickets, unlike most of the fools up in that area that will most likely never step foot in that ballpark again this season! That's the only solace I can take from tonight's game. At least we'll be able to enjoy ourselves on Saturday against the Pirates!

Not me. I enjoy talking to fans of other teams, meeting people from other cities and hearing their prospective on the Marlins/South Florida/their team. It is one of the many reasons why I think baseball is the best sport to see in person.

This is one of the most interesting threads I've seen in awhile.

Good to know orange won't be seeping into the team colors, but I'm a little worried about a re-design of the uniforms.
