I apologize for my friend, I was the big kid in the Willingham jersey sitting with them. It was inappropriate of him to use that kind of language in front of all those kids, but he's a lose cannon. Sorry.

 

Well, you should be ashamed of your friend's behavior and for not simply telling him, "Hey, buddy cool it." Thanks to him and the others that were definitely instigated by his antics (because it was not that bad in our section before you guys got there over an hour after the game started), my son (who loves going to games) told me when we got home, "Daddy, I don't want to go to games when people are loud like that!" He's never said that before, and everyone here knows that my son goes to every game with me and we have season tickets, unlike most of the fools up in that area that will most likely never step foot in that ballpark again this season! That's the only solace I can take from tonight's game. At least we'll be able to enjoy ourselves on Saturday against the Pirates!

* The Marlins Maniacs, however, are NOT! Why is the team now paying for these folks to stand in the aisles during the game and block my view so that they can start the wave? I am now proposing that every ballpark in America should have seating separated by those who are there for a game, and those who are there to be entertained. In these new "HARD CORE" sections, people are subject to ejection from the stadium if they get up during innings to get out, start the wave, or talk on their cellphones! Who's in with me?!?

Why do we have so many dance teams? Seriously? Like 4? Are we paying these guys? If so, that's a joke, that we can only spend 17 million on the team, yet we have enough money for all these dance teams. MOST baseball teams don't even have cheerleaders [Mermaids]. As a matter of fact, I think we're the only one.

Some people just have no respect for the game! Why is the damned wave always going on in the 7th and 8th innings? Why does the idiot infront of me always get up durring a 3-2 count with runners on to go get a beer? Why must the cellphones come out durring a "clutch situation"? Not only do I feel it is disrespectful, but the superstitious side of me feels it is terrible luck, so it kills me doubly.

Met fans are the scum of the earth. Last year we sat in front of two of them during a rainy game and they both smelled like wet dogs.

The Marlins Maniacs should contact the Bleacher Bums of old and get some tips. Or just cease and desist. The one trying to get a wave going next to me actually hit me upside the head. He apologized but I told him he now owed that little kid near us a baseball or something. Never did pay up. Oh well. I tried.

 

I had the vid cam going for the F-16s. Anticipating the usual. Coming from the OF towards home plate. Gotta agree with ya. They got lost. Luckily I saw someone pointing towards the IF and swung the camera around to catch them. Being ex-Air Force I get off on that kind of thing.

 

I actually prefer Yankee fans over Mets fans. How bad is that???

 

Good to see you and evenlittler. And the rest of our section mates. Yea we lost, but it sure is fun to be in the ball park again.

I really do think the Marlins organization tries to act like more of a 3 ring circus than a professional baseball club.

Enjoyed the pictures. Sorry about the obnoxious Mets fans. I'd say something about Mets/Yankee fans, but I don't want to stereotype, so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

 

I saw the F-16 flyover...while I was standing in line to buy tickets. I kept on waiting for some flyover which would have indicated the end of the national anthem, but even then, they still caught me by surprise.

 

Red, White and Blue? For the Marlins? Yuck! Thankfully it sounds like Loria won't go that route. The plain silver and black is just that, plain. Bring back the teal, Jeff!

Wife and I were noticing, except for the fans with the new Santana shirts, most met fans are sloppy and their clothes are always either unwashed or just falling apart at the seams.

Last year I was in right field when Jacobs hit a homer that soared about five feet above me and landed several rows back. I have never caught a home run either.

Before we got these seats I would have agreed 100% with you guys. So I understand where you are coming from. I wait til after an inning to head up for whatever. And alot of times then I run up the steps. Coming back down I wait til after an out and move as quickly as I can. And before we got aisle seats I would squat down at my row and wait for the next out before I asked folks to get up so I could get through. It's proper baseball etiquette (did I just mangle that spelling???) and should be enforced by stadium officials. But they aren't our stadium "guys."

It's not the noise. It's the language. And we do get pretty loud at this stadium. But there wasn't a whole lot to get loud about Monday.

 

Truth be told...I was super impressed with Santana. So many different pitches and then changes speeds on those pitches. Hope the kids were taking notes. But I wouldn't admit that to the Mets fans around us. Told them the only Santana I like plays guitar. Gonna be interesting to see if he can make it the entire season if the 100 pitch count yesterday is a sign of things to come. How often do you see SPs in the first week or two getting that high up in the count? But he was on a roll and I am quite sure Willie knows his guys alot better than I do. Plus, he wasn't the only pitcher to get up that high Monday. So maybe with our recent history of injuries I am a little gun shy.

I act the same way you do, even when the ushers let people thru in the middle of at bats, I wait, my family waits, and if I take anyone, they wait. But, before we rap marlin fans, just watch the "knowledgeable" fans of other teams in our stadium, be it mets, yankees, red sox, cubs etc-they get up and stand and move about regardless of the situation, and it is the same in many stadiums I have been to. Just like a lot of things that are negative, for some reason, people down here act as if only the bad things occur in S. Florida-regardless of what it is and no where else.
