MarlinsLou
The Miami Herald reports that Lee Gardner will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation, and the Marlins will recall RHP Doug Waechter. Gardner had given up two runs and four hits in an inning and a third on Thursday. Waechter, who has a 4.22 ERA in 10 2/3 innings in Triple-A, will help in long relief. The Herald also says that Sergio Mitre has been transfered to the 60-day disabled list. Analysis - MEH

hanley2
why don't we call up a younger pitcher who actually has upside
Rabbethan
why don't we call up a younger pitcher who actually has upside Because we don't want to rush them. But...BAH!

geemoney
I'm surprised Joe Nelson didn't get the call. But I guess if they wanted a long man, Waechter made sense.

fanofthefish
hope to have Gardy back and healthy soon, he hadn't looked sharp and now we know why. He was a huge part of last years bullpen and he undestands his role as set-up. Also a good call on Waechter he pitched fairly well in ST and his big league experience doesn't hurt. As for rushing or not rushing young arms up like Volstad or others I'm sure the FO doesn't want to start the arbitration clock running. IrishHarrington
why don't we call up a younger pitcher who actually has upside The track record of young pitchers with talent rushed up to the majors isnt that good . From 2006-2008 , we have have Johnson , Sanchez , Nolasco , Mitre all on the DL for long peroids of times . Let the talent in the minors build up there arm strength and learn how to pitch . Sirspud
why don't we call up a younger pitcher who actually has upside Waechter was a fairly highly rated prospect and may have some upside left, plus he has experience. It's really not a bad call at all.
fanfish
Why can't players get it though their thick skulls....that they should seek medical help when they are injured. It hurts the team when they play injured and they hurt themselves by making their injury worse and messing up their numbers. Yes, I know they do it so that they won't lose their roster spot, but please......
