Erick
Yeah, they were also bashing us. "They are unloved in their own city." listen, we love the team, but they can only look at attendance figures. Can you blame them for making fun of the fanbase? I don't. I'll blame them if they make fun of the team, at this point, though.

Tee Ball Bunt Machine
I think what bothers everyone is that if we struggle they'll mock us for our payroll and poor performance, and then even when we do good, they then focus on the attendance issues which we all know well enough about and has a number of other factors contributing to it. IrishHarrington
with respect to the comment made about our attendance the figures speak for themselves , we all know the issues , none the less our attendance is embarassing (right now) . The new stadium if properly done will be the remedy until than i dont think we can be offended when the national sports media calls us out for poor attendance . Some context would be nice but the numbers dont lie.

Especially given the fact that this subject has been beaten to death. Lets just talk about what happens on the field.

I think the point that was being made about Hanley was because he plays on a small market team that gets little attention he is often overlooked. We all know Hanley is one of the best players in the game , and is a better player than Reyes etc, but he probably flys under many fans raders because he plays for us. Sunday day games are absolutely hell unless you're in club. In August maybe. Not in April. It was a beautiful day at Dolphin Stadium -- a little overcast, maybe low-80s. That there were only about 8K in the stands (I know paid attendance was 11,600-something, but there were far fewer people in the park) for a first place team is disgusting. But oh well. We all know that South Florida sucks as a sports town. We all know that, by and large, this community has never accepted the Marlins. No news there. BroncoBob27
i heard that he say only little over 11,000 want to see them play today 12,000 and some. Fridays game----13,279 Saturday's game----18,944 Sunday's game----11,635 And we need to thank the Little League teams and their folks for making the numbers that high. It was announced it was the biggest week end in Marlins history for youth baseball and softball visits. Something like 750 of them marching pre game Sunday. A week end with perfect weather for baseball, team fighting for 1st place in a tough division, and no other pro sports going on in the tri county area. Seems to me ESPN has a point. Sunday day games are absolutely hell unless you're in club. Not right now. Still early enough to enjoy our seats. And this Sunday was absolutely beautiful. Cloud coverage, nice breeze, and even when the sun did pop out it wasn't really hot. It may be a couple more home stands before we start exchanging our tickets for the 200 level. Until then it is the perfect time of year to enjoy a day game here.
