No, that's batantly false. While the front office clearly wants Miller and Maybin to be future stars, the fate of the franchise is not banking on it. If they do turn out to be busts, its all the more reason to sign the guy they should sign in the first place - Hanley.

Prospects are not duds 1 f***ing month into the first season after the trade. It will be years before we know how the Marlins fared in the Cabrera deal.

If Maybin & Miller are duds, then the Marlins have very little to trade for come 4 or 5 years from now when they are eligible for arbitration. They will be paid lots of money, but are untradeable because they stink. We'll be stuck with lousy players, and no hope of trading for young studs like we have been doing. With the cycle broken, of getting winners in the trades we are stuck.....and Beinfest had better draft well or we will be bad for a very long time, unless Loria opens up the wallet, and that is not very likely to happen.
