No, that's batantly false. While the front office clearly wants Miller and Maybin to be future stars, the fate of the franchise is not banking on it. If they do turn out to be busts, its all the more reason to sign the guy they should sign in the first place - Hanley.

 

That will never happen. Loria is committed to being cheap. Think about what Hanley thinks when he sees that Longoria was just signed to a big deal in year 1, and he is in year 3 making 1/4th what Longoria will make ? He starts to resent being a Marlin and can't wait to get out of here to make some money.....maybe he doesn't play as hard as he can because he wants out. Its a dangerous game that Loria & Samson play....and it hurts the fanbase too.
