July 5, 200818 yr Can't expect to win games while giving up nine runs to the opposing team. It's just unacceptable. Olsen must have thought, "Oh well, we're winning by tons of runs. Who cares if I give up 9?" It's too bad Fredi didn't leave Waechter in to pitch the 9th, though. Embarrassing.

He was shown slamming him glove in the dugout when he still had the lead. He definitely cared.
July 5, 200818 yr Damn it!!! They are replaying the game on Sun Sports!!! Television OFF! :no :no :no WIN TOMORROW! This feels like the longest losing streak of the year and its only 2 games :X o there they go with scott olsen's stat of no run support... argh!!
July 5, 200818 yr Doesn't matter who is to blame and who isn't. We can't be blowing games like this. Something needs to change.
July 5, 200818 yr This game is a good example of you get what you pay for...We had a good bargain tonight with our offense scoring 17 runs, but the cheap unreliable pitching staff goes with the territory of a $22M payroll... If Loria is not going to spend $$$ to improve this bullpen, then this bullpen is going to continue to find ways to lose. I sometimes wonder if Loria is hoping the team loses enough right now so he doesn't have to spend any $$$
July 5, 200818 yr Just embarrassing stuff from all the pitchers. Pinto of all people was the only one who did his job. I do wish Freddi had left Waechter in for the 9th. Let someone else try & wrap it up. It doesn't mean you're necessarily dumping Gregg from the closer role, it's just like giving a hitter the day off when he's struggling. I really hope guys can rebound after a game like that. Who knows what the clubhouse was like after that abomination.
July 5, 200818 yr I have never seen a bullpen so... stupid (lack of words b/c or anger). WTF were they doing? Scott Olsen had a NINE did you hear me a NINE run lead. I am blaming him the most. Gregg blew that save but Gregg should have never gotten a chance to pitch. STOP WITH THE INSANITY!!

I sometimes wonder if Loria is hoping the team loses enough right now so he doesn't have to spend any $$ Is every post you make for the rest of the season going to read exactly like this one? Because over and over this seems to be the only comment you make regardless of the circumstances. This is more or less the same bullpen as last season absent one (+Lindstrom in AAA) and with two good additions, and or used just as much as last season, if you remember how often they were early in games last season, and I don't know you were complaining about them then. At this stage of the season what the payroll is or isn't has little to do with what happened last nght unless you think relievers (the most wanted commodity in baseball regardless of the team or price) grow on trees. Seems to me Tampa has done pretty well with their group of retreads (Perceival - out all of 2006 and most of 2007, injured, Wheeler +5 ERA last three years, Howell +5.5 ERA lifetime), it's just their bullpen is having the season we had last year.
July 5, 200818 yr I didn't post last night because I was pretty pissed off. There is no excuse for Hanley not to turn that double play. There is no excuse for putting in your last bullpen pitcher, in a 1 run game, on the road. There is no excuse for walking so many guys. It is 95 degrees at Coors, the ball is going to fly out of the park, but we lost to walks and errors, period.
July 5, 200818 yr Did anybody watch BBTN yet or sportscenter. If so what are they saying about florida? im scared to look because then i will break my TV if the make fun of us. Nah I only watch it when we win.... lol. And I agree with Rab, even though I feel like GREGG and FREDI are the BIGGEST Reasons for yesterday's loss... Olsen was just terrible, allowing 9 runs when your team gives you a huge lead is just unacceptable..
July 5, 200818 yr Wow I didn't know were considered bandwagonders for hating Gregg and Fredi thats according to a so called "Die hard" friend of mine who ive only seen go to a game twice in my 4 years knowing him...

I just love the "I am right, you are wrong, my sh*t don't stink" mentality in here. Concerning last year, there was no playoff run, the team was 71 and 91 in last place. Loria needed to spend some money to improve this team and he didn't. Looking over last year's games, there were a few losing streaks where the bullpen got credit for the loss every night. We are living and dying with a bullpen that is hurting this team's chances of doing anything this year. So who the f*** are you to tell me what I can and cannot post in here? Last time I looked I didn't see any credentials next to your name of being an authority on baseball

Last time I looked I didn't see any credentials next to your name of being an authority on baseball Really though...how many of those were blown by Jorge Julio and Armando Benitez? 2 guys who are no longer here? I agree...some more money spent would've been nice. Like signing Livan Hernandez instead of Hendrickson. I can honestly say, however, the bullpen was the least of my worries coming into the year.
July 5, 200818 yr Their pitching staff gave up 17 runs!!!! Our pitching staff gave up 18!!! It was 95 degrees with low humidity at 5000 feet. It's going to be 95 again today. Expect another high scoring game.
July 5, 200818 yr There is no excuse for Hanley not to turn that double play. Would have gotten at least one out out of that and kept the DP in order had the right call been made. There is no excuse for putting in your last bullpen pitcher, in a 1 run game, on the road. I'm more upset with the fact that Fredi and Wiley have used Waechter for a third of an inning the past two nights and gone to guys like Tankersley in hopes of stopping the bleeding. Up to 7 pitchers could have been saved last night had he gone to Waechter in the 6th.

If you want to post the same thing five times a day for the rest of your life be my guest. You might want set up a hotkey though so you can save on the keystrokes.
July 5, 200818 yr I love how when a bullpen blows a 9-run lead, SOMEHOW, Loria gets blamed. Gotta love it. Anything to get a shot in I guess.
