August 12, 200817 yr I am just curious, do the Marlins plan to call up Gaby Sanchez or keep his explosive offense bottled up in AA? I just checked his splits since their all-star break. I think he has more individual offense in 23 games than the marlins do combined in the same time frame.
August 12, 200817 yr i dont think he's gonna get called up this year. He wouldnt be starting and Helms is a better option off the bench than he is.
August 12, 200817 yr To be perfectly honest, I would take anyone right now. We just need another hitter.
August 12, 200817 yr I doubt it. I still have my doubts that either his glove or his bat will translate to anything other than mediocre in MLB.
August 12, 200817 yr he isn't currently on the 40 man so that hurts his chances, since we'd have to make room for him.
August 12, 200817 yr To be perfectly honest, I would take anyone right now. We just need another hitter. Another hitter? Dallas McPherson maybe?
August 12, 200817 yr i would say him and cameron maybin get called up in sep. 1st of look at his stats second u cant really guess wat their gonna do in the bigs cuz a lot of people said volstad wasnt gonna be more than a B- pitcher and hes already proving them wrong
August 12, 200817 yr I doubt it. I still have my doubts that either his glove or his bat will translate to anything other than mediocre in MLB. Jimmy have no more doubts: Strait from Fleming :Sanchez, a power-hitting first baseman, also has played third base at Carolina, where he is batting .335 with 17 home runs and 84 RBIs. and 37 league leading doubles and .424 league leading OBP and .975 league leading OPS "He's a very professional guy. He's a very prepared guy," Fleming said. "He's improved his defense at third and at first." PS this year he has to be protected so he will be put on the 40
August 12, 200817 yr who do u think will get the call up??? i got 4 in mind right now but i doubt they'll all get called up sanchez- 1B, 3B mcpherson- 3B, 1B maybin- OF coghlan- 2B

PS this year he has to be protected so he will be put on the 40 He has played 1st and 3rd, he is poor at 1st base and downright terrible at 3rd. And he is also not a power hitter. In a good year, in MLB, he might break 10. I sometimes wonder if you are, in fact, Gaby Sanchez, much like I wonder if a certain poster-Rabbethan for example-is in fact Sergio Mitre.
August 12, 200817 yr What about pitchers? Carlos Martinez is up at Albuquerque now, looking solid and has some ML time? Does he get a call? What about Frankie de la Cruz? Both are on the 40-man.

Fact I'm not Gaby Sanchez : I like the player and follow him unlike you that has no facts and are clueless ,but it's give me a change to write about him :Let's see Player of the year 2006 for the Marlins this year alone:Player of the Month May & July for the Marlins (Marlins must Think He Sucks) & Player of the week twice and Topps player of the month July I think it's time you crawl back to your hole :thumbup :whistle

August 12, 200817 yr As for who gets called up there are other factors to consider - who goes to the Arizona Fall League, what pitchers have maxed out their projected innings, what the parent club's needs in Sept.? For example I don't know exactly how many 1B-3B guys we really need on the roster? In the cases of Sanchez and McPherson you almost have to bring them up as a reward for what they've accomplished this season in their respective leagues but sending Sanchez to the AFL might be a better use of his time and further his career in the long term. Honestly, is Maybin better off coming up to more or less sit on the bench - he already had that MLB experience with Detroit so it isn't like it's a priority for him to get it this Sept.? I think they'll bring him up as much for PR reasons as anything but not to get significant playing time. It may have to do with how well, or if, Willingham recovers his stride because if he continues like he is he has DL written all over him. They might be better off bringing up Tommy Murphy to spell some outfielders, defensively he's spectacular, he has MLB experience and right now offensively he's getting it done with Albuquerque. Or Raynor? The interesting thing about Willingham, if he goes DL in Sept is that opens up a roster spot where otherwise a fresh player couldn't be added should the Marlins make it into October. You have to wonder though how much longer they are going to allow him to struggle like this when every game counts.
August 12, 200817 yr Maybin, Coghlan, Sanchez, etc.? Why? September callups are for team needs. Guys like Andino and Lo Duca are the type of guys who will likely get called up in September. Why call up your top prospects...to have them sit on the bench?

I am sorry I am not impressed by a guy who was mediocre for the majorty of the year in High A ball when he was 2 years too old for the level. I am sorry I am not impressed by him being organizational player of the year in 2006, when he split time between the GCL and SALLY league, leagues he was 3 to 4 years too old for. He can barely field, he has marginal power at best, and depending on if Stanton has to move eventually is by virtue the 3rd best 1B prospect in our system.

Marlins2003 your some what right, I see it more of Mudcats being in the playoff and Marlins waiting for them to be over,it's nice experience to always play in a playoff. Gaby has already played in 2006 in the AFL. but I think Marlins will send Morrison,Cousins,Raynor they usually don't send a player twice.

August 12, 200817 yr again your clueless, you have all wrong facts, so everything you write to try to be smart but your not. Jimmy is entirely correct, Sanchez is years old for any level he's been even remotely worth a crap.
August 12, 200817 yr Dallas Mcphearson, Robert Andino, Paul Lo Duca, Maybe Tank or RVH but we need another pitcher maybe even Andrew in the pen
August 13, 200817 yr God, who are you people talking about Sanchez like he's over the hill? He's 24 years old. Get a grip. I don't know how to break the news to you but in baseball players have productive careers into their late thirties and even dare I say it into their forties. You may think life is over at 25 but you're sadly mistaken. How someone cannot appreciate a performance like Sanchez' recent one is beyond me. Just for the love of the game if nothing else. All some people do is find excuses why not to appreciate something that deserves our appreciation. "PERFORMANCE OF WEEK: 1B Gaby Sanchez had back-to-back two-homer games, driving in nine runs. He was 5-for-9 and also had a double and two walks. Sanchez, 24, had six homers and 17 RBIs over a nine-game stretch, going 14-for-33. The former University of Miami standout was hitting .336 with 17 homers -- 10 since the All-Star break -- and 83 RBIs. He leads the SL with 36 doubles and has drawn 60 walks while striking out 58 times." And for the heck of it I went back a week or so (Sanchez is hitting .389 in his last ten games) to check the age of some of the starting pitchers the Mudcats faced - 1@22, 2@23, 2@24, 1@25, 1@26, etc., so don't give me this crap about he's playing way above his age group and dominating kid pitchers. And don't be fooled, a number of the guys some of you probably think are crap because oh my god they are over 22 have excellent ERAs. By the same standard (playing above their ages) these 24, 25, 26 year old pitchers with ERAs in the 2's and three's should be dominating Sanchez and that's not the case. Who knows what kind of major league career Sanchez will have or even if he has one? I don't. What I do know is those who are the first to defame him and others because they're "too old" at 24, surely don't have a clue and probably never will. Here's what I do know. Next spring Sanchez will come into spring training with this team or another and do everything he can to earn a major league roster spot and no one in the front office, manager or coaches is going to say if he succeeds "too bad the guy is hitting .395 because we can't have a 25 year old rookie on our team." Especially one who this season has more walks than strikeouts and is about to shatter the Mudcats' record for doubles in a season. They don't fill roster spots by age, this isn't PlayStation baseball, what counts are performance and production. And in another Mudcats story, Willie Glen has just pitched his third consecutive six inning scoreless start and at 31 continues to show why his stats best all starting pitching in the league. It's great to be a 22 year old phenom who has a first class ticket to the big leagues but it must be embarrassing when you can't compete with a guy ten years your senior who has been out of organized baseball for the last three years. It shouldn't be hard to figure out who I'm rooting for getting a callup this September. The Mudcats plan on starting Glen in the League Playoffs and riding his arm all the way to a championship, and hopefully after that there's a ticket to Miami waiting for him.
