im so tired of this whenever they talk about the nl east on espn they never mention the marlins! the last time i remember them mentioning the marlins in the race was when we were in 1st lol! we deserve more credit than that they talk about the yanks taking the al east whenever they win a game!!! i mean come on! :banghead

let me solve this riddle real quick for everyone...stop watching espn...if they start losing ratings and money from the rest of the country, they will eventually stop the red sox/yankees/mets knob slobbing when it costs them money

I agree. I haven't watched espn in several weeks, ever since I got mlb.tv. I live in atlanta, so i don't get the Marlins games, and i got tired of repeatedly watching the Red Sox every night.

yeah...being that i live in massachusetts and that NESN gets the rights to basically every non-weekend game...when the red sox are on espn...i get a big, dull grey screen...fantastic espn...thank you, i always wanted to watch a big grey screen with nothing on it...maybe...just maybe...they could take that turd burglar steve philips and put him on an alternate game...ya know...for the people who live in the northeast market so we dont get a freaking GREY SCREEN!

please think of a less crude and appropriate title than wtf! next time, thank u

how do u figure

and WHEN, not IF we sweep the Mets at the weekend, ESPN will no doubt briefly mention "The New York Mets have lost 3 in a row this weekend, yet remain huge favourites to win the division". They probs wont even say who beat them.

I think we are getting fair coverage, i mean we are still 5 games out, not like we should be getting more publicity.

There is no such thing as fair coverage on ESPN...

well we did get a lot of coverage in April and May, the season has just progressed. I like the fact that the Yanks coverage has died down due to them being nearly out of the race. That is how it is, u have to be in some sort of contention to be talked about. If the marlins want to be noticed, all u need to do is win games, we have not done that, our longest winning streak since the all star break is 2. When we don't win, we don't get on tv, when we win, they go into depth about what our chances are, that is just how it is.

Im a big colts fan because of my family but any way last year the patriots coverage was sickening. Everyone except them sucked.

But yeah if we win the series in atl and the mets continue to lose and then we swweep them here id asy we get some coverage from at least basball tonight.

While I'm not ready to put the Marlins on life support, both the Mets and Phillies are both more than 10 games above .500 while the fish languish 3 above right at the mediocrity level. As for broadcasts its not only ESPN that tends to show Red Sox/Yankees you can throw Fox and at times TBS, thats what sells and even if every person on this board boycott those games it would probably have the same effect as taking a cup of water out of the ocean.

Yeah, I say forget ESPN. The network hasn't been the same since many of their best personalities left for better jobs.

ESPN did give props to the Marlins SEVERAL TIMES. But the Marlins started to play bad baseball the last month or so, and of course ESPN isn't going to talk about them right now. That wouldn't make any sense. Why would they?

I understand why they wont give coverage to the marlins, even though we are still in the race. But here is something that bothers me. Even though i dont like the rays, they should be getting mad coverage right now. They just went 4-2 against the angels and the white sox. And they probably could have went 5-1 but peirzinski(sp?) cheated and hit the shortstop, and they called interference on him instead of pierzinski.

What im tryin to say is we have to beat the good teams and go on a streak to get coverage. Sweeping the mets would bring us that

In baseball, fans lean towards the teams with the larger payrolls, which turn into the teams with the largest fan bases.

The reason why the Rays aren't covered that much is because they have an extremely small fan base, smaller than the Marlins.

The Rays are on National TV a lot though, but mostly because the Yankee and Red Sox fans tune in to see how their teams are affected by it.

Probably not. This team is going to have to win the division to get coverage. And that still makes sense. ESPN is catering to their viewership, and let's face it, Marlins fans are a very small percentage of people watching ESPN. If they thought people wanted to see the Marlins, they would show them more. I think the Rays problem is that they have been perennial losers. So they are very, very, very good this year, but they will have to be good several years before they get the recognition of other teams. You may not like the Bostons, the New Yorks, etc, but those teams are in the playoff hunt almost annually, so it does make sense they get more coverage. Plus, their fanbases are massive.

i'm so tired of this we don't get respect crap. if the marlins go out and start winning some games and go on a winning streak ESPN will talk about them. don't blame ESPN for the marlins not playing well and losing to sh*tty teams.

Up untill about a week or 2 ago the tigers were still in it according to them.

true

I've said it before and I'll say it again...this is just one of the many reasons why I stopped watching ESPN (outside of actual sporting events) a looooooooong time ago :thumbdown
