Posted May 7, 200916 yr per ESPN. Some people are just thick. EDIT: Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4148907
May 7, 200916 yr Surprising and disapointing. I guess it's good that the testers are catching up now to the cheaters, but this is no good for baseball.
May 7, 200916 yr Los Angeles Times story - http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-manny-...0,6324894.story
May 7, 200916 yr Author Peter Gammons is reporting that it's not a PED and not a steroid. That Manny got some medication from a doctor in Miami that he was told was ok and apparently wasn't. Maybe he's not that thick?
May 7, 200916 yr Just saw this also. Really bad for baseball. Next up...David Ortiz. Mr.Icanthitahomerunthisyeartosavemylife
May 7, 200916 yr Manny being Manny? Yeah, that's the first thing I said. It's just Manny being Manny, that's all it is. :lol
May 7, 200916 yr WOW At least it could make the series against the Dodgers a bit easier in a couple of weeks... But on a serious note, will baseball ever totally escape the link with drugs?
May 7, 200916 yr Will be interesting to see how this is treated by the media who loves manny as opposed to Arod who they love to hate. Kinda sounds like the same thing that happend to romero of the phils. He bought something from gnc asked a team trainer or something and was told it was ok only to get told it wasnt. I cant really say im surprised by this. The only guy that probably would really surprise me is Jeter.

See though, that's a big difference. Some GNC product vs steroids. Hell, this could change the drug policy from being a random blanket to something that actually makes sense.

I was mostly talking about how both were apparently told it was ok to take whatever they took only to get nailed later. I thought you said Gammons was reporting it wasnt steriods? But i agree there really isnt much at GNC could do anything close to what steriods do.

Ive read he worked out with the trainer that Arod worked out with who was banned by the mlb. But yeah hed also be shock.
May 7, 200916 yr wow he doesn't get paid, right? he probably loss around 5-7 millions He will lose 7.7 million.

IMO romero is the one who is not at fault as he apparently aksed team officals and was told it was ok while manny didnt and we know what Arod did.
May 7, 200916 yr I'm going to want to know a lot more details before I pass judgment on Manny. For now, I am sad that he has to miss 50 games.

According to Gammons, Manny asked his doctor and it was something that wasn't on the list.
May 7, 200916 yr If it really is an OTC drug there should be something a little more forgiving than a 50 game suspension. I find it hard to believe that Manny is in better shape now than he was say in the 1997 WS when he could actually play.
