Cameron Maybin AAA Thread

Recommended Posts

The other thing to keep in mind with the average is that it will quickly disappear in the majors. A .290 singles hitter in AAA is really not all that likely to hit above .260 in the majors, both because he is facing tougher pitching and because the defenses are usually better. And a .260 hitter with no power is simply not that good in the majors. Maybin's average would probably still be low in the majors if he was driving the ball, but at least he'd be providing some doubles, triples, and occasional homers.

Today, Maybin hits 3-for-4 (including a triple) with no K, 2 walks and 1 rbi.

3 or 4 days ago, His batting average was dropped down to around .280

(Maybin have had a pinky finger during he attempted a stealing 2nd base.)

But it seems he overcame the minor injury.(He reached on .318, today.)

If he keep up this status in Z's, he can get a shot to major near the future.

Not far from it, I think.

Maybin is getting closer and closer to being called up.

Which means we are getting closer and closer to an outfield that looks like Hermida in LF, Maybin in CF and Cody in RF, with Coghlan at 3B and Boni on the bench, oh how sweet that sounds.

That alone gave my teeth cavities just thinking about it

What happens to Gaby then? I thought he was close to getting called up also, but he wouldn't have anywhere to play.

I honestly don't think the team see Coghlan as an infielder...at least not a 3rd baseman. Gaby will get a shot at 3rd before Coghlan does. I think the more likely scenerio is Maybin getting called up when/if a current OF(Ross or Hermida) or Uggla (Coghlan going to 2nd) is dealt.

Everyone here is watching the daily stream of hits and assumes that he is gonna be called up for just hitting .300. Since we really don't have an opening in the outfield anyway, I'm sure the organization is not looking at calling him up only to sit the bench when there are a lot of things he can still learn in AAA.

  • 3 weeks later...

Maybin's OPSing just under 1.000 for June & July :thumbup

Yeah, I'm very happy and I'm just remaining patient until the callup. We all know it needs to happen, although many would like to wait until September in order to save some service time, but I think he would provide a spark to the offense.
