Posted May 15, 201014 yr Marlins win 7-2! W: Sanchez (2-2) L: Perez (0-3) 2B: C Ross (9) HR: D Uggla 2 (8); G Sanchez (4); C Coghlan (1)
May 15, 201014 yr Pretty sure this a 4-game series, gizmo. We've only secured a split so far. But anyway, I'll go with Uggla. Had the big 3-run homer and added another one for insurance. Sanchez pitched a really nice game as well. 2 runs in 7 innings is great. Could have been 0 because I think he got squeezed in that inning where he gave up some runs. But only 2 walks which is nice to see.

May 15, 201014 yr I'm just happy for Maybin's multi-hits. I hope he'll getting back on the track. Heck I'm just happy he hit a line drive and not a grounder.
May 15, 201014 yr i can't choose between uggla and anibal. uggla did provide the offense but anibal pitched very well. 7 innings with 7 K's. if anibal, volstad, and robertson keep pitching this well the rotation is going to be scary.
May 15, 201014 yr That was the most exciting game I've been to so far this season. Plenty of hits, including 4 Long balls and pretty solid pitching. Gave the FOTG To Anibal for dealing in the 1st 6 innings and giving the team back to back quality starts.
May 15, 201014 yr I'm liking our pitching staff thus far. If we can get on track offensively, I think we'll be in the hunt all season long.
May 15, 201014 yr I voted for Anibal for FOTG. He did great and looked really strong today. I'm loving what we've been getting from our starting pitchers and I really hope they keep it up!
May 15, 201014 yr Sanchez was great, there's no doubt about it. I usually vote for starting pitching, but I went for Dan Uggla in this one... gotta love scoring some runs to get that 7-0 lead. That 12-1 San Diego game feels like a looooong time ago.
May 15, 201014 yr What was even more impressive with Anibal's outing was only giving up 4 hits as he came into the game with batters over .300 against him on the year. Good old 3 run jack returns, that's how we roll!
May 15, 201014 yr I voted for Anibal for his great bounce-back start. Anyone who makes David Wright look that bad striking out is awesome. I enjoyed the home run derby, and Uggla had some crazy wrist action on his first HR. Maybin's maturing, staying back and thinking up the middle. It was nice to see Cogz hit that homer, but he was what, 1 for 5 and grounded out weakly twice and struck out in the AB after his homer? Still looking for consistency from him if he's gonna bat leadoff. But definitely not giving away AB's like he did in April...he was just painful to watch.
May 15, 201014 yr If Anibal can get us an ERA in the high 3's - where he's at now - and Volstad can keep his ERA under 4.25 (totally doable), I like our chances this year. The offense will perform better as the season goes on, either because we get help (Stanton replaces Maybin or we trade for a high OBP bat) or the offense comes around.

Don't forget the possibility that Miller/West/Vandenhurk show that they are ready for big-league action to replace Nate with a high-upside arm. That could let Nate slide to LOOGY duty. Or, Miller/RVH/Tucker/Tankersley/anyone else may show they are ready to be Major-League RPs and we can upgrade a bullpen that has been solid already. This team has always had the "talent". It's exciting when you see some of it come to fruition.
May 15, 201014 yr 2-0 since Brett Hayes joined the team. This can't be a coincidence. It surely isn't, he is big help in the clubhouse and now he'll actually will be getting some playing time with Baker on the DL.

May 16, 201014 yr I'm just waiting for the day when we can trade Hanley and make Hayes the everyday SS. Yep, we should also fire Fredi and make Hayes our 1st ever player coach.
