Hector Luna: The most overrated Marlin of all-time. Geez.

 

This new lineup change is awesome, btw.

That title belongs to Dallas McPherson. People here still think that the Marlins didn't give him enough of a shot.

 

An honorable mention goes to De Aza.

I like the lineup, the ONLY issue i have with it is that it takes our only real pinch hitter off the bench. Granted I havent seen any of hector luna since he was with the cards so idk what we have in him. so yeah...makes our already crappy bench even crappier.

I really don't like Helms now being the starting 3b (When we already know who he is) instead of Murphy (Where it would be good to see if he can replicate his AAA success, or if he's still as sucky as he was a few years ago for Oakland). Plus the whole Murphy is 27 and still making the minimum next year, Wes Helms is a FA. And Wes Helms just really isn't any good lol

And Luna has played third all year while Murphy's attempt looked like a hockey goalie.

There's such a thing as levels. Just because displeasure is shown does not mean that one thinks the world is ending.

Murphy is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Luna defensively. Murphy can pull off SS, Luna can't even field 2b/3b (career -11 UZR at both positions). The difference in their defensive abilities is really big.

 

And Luna did not have a better year offensively. They were basically even with the bat (.845 OPS for Luna, .854 OPS for Murphy)

 

 

Murphy is just 27 years of age to Luna's 30, which is signifcant in baseball years because Murphy is just now entering his prime. I want to see if he's legit now that he's in his prime, or if he's still as sucky as he was with Oakland.

Luna was hitting better at the time of Murphy's call-up, but he has tailed off slightly so they are pretty even now. Defense definitely played a part in Murphy being called up before Luna, and that's the reason why Luna hasn't been with the team before now.

I read that Luna will get 2-3 starts a week andif he gets hot will get the job full time.

 

I would like to see Murphy get a shot though.
