Cody Ross is now 2-2 as a Giant with 2 Runs Scored and an RBI :(

I Miss Him So Much and It's weird seeing him not in a Marlins Uniform and not wearing the # 12.

And he isn't a MARLIN????:verysad

It just figures...he's with the Giants now, so he'll have a heck of a run there. But good for him. Am I the only one who gets nervous with Maybin in center?

Doubt you are. But these are basically 3 rookies playing the OF that have never been together as one. And one is playing out of his position just trying to learn it. Mistakes and "errors" are going to happen until they get to know each other's strong AND weak points. Like how they attack and react to certain situations, for instance.

Maybin will be fine out there. He's a smart kid and hard worker. I did notice him a couple times talking to the other guys, seemingly giving some instruction. That's a good thing. He's the boss of the OF and needs to take control. The one thing I would worry about him is hiding an injury, no matter how trivial he thinks it is.

marlins should bring guys did good in aaa see how their do in big league because we not playing not thing let see how their do here???i heard on tv owner say season not over have he look at standing or wildcard standing???

Aren't they already doing that? Probably half their roster, if not more, spent time in AAA this year. Because of that, some fans will probably be spending time in AA this year.

We had 5 rookies in the starting line up. Against a smart knuckleballer having a very nice season and a great 2nd half. I have no idea what some folks were expecting, but quite honestly they did better than I would have thought.

"Sucky" Josh Johnson is 2-2 with a 3.99 ERA since the All-Star Break which is not THAT bad however the awesomeness of his first half makes it seem like a disaster. I'm expecting him to pitch mixed results from now till the end of the season with some good, some bad.

Just a couple of things, please don't think I'm picking on you miamibaseball.

September 1st is the day when the rosters expand to 40, we should see a lot of players getting looks after then. Of course with four rookies, (five if Maybin is still a rookie) in the starting line-up and Murphy and Luna on the bench there isn't a whole lot left on the AAA team. Also as for the owner saying the season isn't over I believe he's obligated to recite such things, I'm sure the Pirates owner is saying his team has a lot to prove in the 2nd half too!

I'm not sure what people had in mind for this team, from the begining of the season until now the bullpen has been suspect, starting pitching too inconsistant, poor defensively and a bad bench. Last night's loss was a prime example of what this team is for this season, and despite all this the team is at .500 an accomplishment in its self! I for one will not be glad to see the season end, am looking forward to seeing some of the Sept. call-ups and hope the leaked financial records will embarass the FO into putting some money into the team.

JJ with another bad game.

I'm just watching this team now for Stanton, Morrisson, Maybin, Sanchez, Sanabia, Miller and Anibal. I could care less about anyone else now.

That's how I'm looking at it. Every loss we have brings us closer to a better draft pick.

I didn't watch Marlins Live pregame. Did they have any reaction from the players on Cody Ross leaving. If so, what did they say?

Not that I saw. They just had some crappy Cody Ross video. It really wasn't good.

I missed the video! Ugh :banghead I was so pissed off at losing to the Mets that I forgot and flipped the channel! As for the pregame, yeah they did ask a few players like Uggla and Hanley. I forgot what they said so I'm not much help heh but pretty much that he'll be missed and they have to move on..ect

Ah, I missed it as well. I never watch the postgame show after the Marlins lose. It's been like 3 seasons that I've done it that way, so it's just a habit lol.

It was awesome to see them remember Cody, but the video was crappy. They should have put his walkoffs and stuff, but either way it was nice of them to do.

heh yep, I have the same habit. Well from what everyone is saying, it wasn't much anyway. But it definitely was nice to see them tribute Cody Ross with a video. But hey, thankfully we have youtube! Probably a lot better videos on there of Cody than what FSN showed

All I see is that it proved what they have been saying all along. But I do think we will see another increase in payroll this year. How much I predict I'm holding off until after the Holiday Party.

September call ups........From AA I wouldn't be surprised to see Dominguez get the call, if for nothing else to give him a taste of the big leagues. Seems the logical thing to do in his progression. And Osvaldo Martinez. Might also be a pitcher or two. But that will wait until Jax is done with their playoffs.

Dominguez has been struggling a ton this year. I'd be extremely shocked to see him get a call.

I wouldn't say that's true. For his age and the level he's playing in, he's been doing alright. Much better than Andrew Miller, who recently was promoted.

Either way, a September callup could just be made for the experience of getting a taste of the big leagues. For what it's worth, I'd be willing to bet that Matt Dominguez right now could outproduce our starting 3B.

Yea, Dominguez hasn't been that bad.

And, you'd lose a lot of money if you made that bet.

Defensively, Dominguez is better right now than any 3rd baseman we have.

Offensively, he has a long way to go and is still a long way away from ready.

Huh? You don't think Dominguez could outproduce the million dollar man Wes Helms? I repeat...WES HELMS!

I don't just think, I know Matt Dominguez won't out produce Wes Helms.

You're right. It's really difficult to outproduce a .1 WAR.

For a 20 year old rookie who only has a .745 OPS in Double A, it is. Great defensively, but needs a lot of work offensively.

Stop hating Wes Helms and think.

Burning an option so that Dominguez can have a month in the majors when he's far from being ready isn't the best use of that option.

You can say the for his age, all that stuff about Dominguez, but you don't bring guys up to the majors who really aren't hitting that well down there, whether they are young for the level or not. If he's somewhat overmatched in AA, he's definitely going to be in the majors.

.229/.299/.365

But hey, it's cool; I guess that's a professional .663 .OPS so it makes things different. :lol

Please. Helms is good at nothing. The only reason why it's not a good idea to bring up Dominguez is because he's a high potential player who needs to fully develop in the minors, and as Nny stated, it's not a good idea to just waste an option like that. It has nothing to do with him not being able to outproduce Wes Helms right now. It's very likely that he would.

If it weren't for what Nny stated, he'd be up in the big leagues already. Dominguez is better than anything we have at the big league level to play 3B; both defensively AND OFFENSIVELY. Especially Wes Helms. Wes Helms sucks.

No it isn't. Everything you're saying is out of hate towards Wes Helms and his new contract. Odds are, Helms out produces Dominguez with the bat. Dominguez will be like Jose Lopez, basically.

And I don't even know why you mentioned him being "professional". It has nothing to do with this conversation.

Helms has been slightly better than the horrible production Bonifacio gave this team last year. He's a really really really bad player.

I'm not saying he's big league ready; I'm just saying it's not difficult to outproduce Wes Helms.
