Marlins win 7-5 and back over .500

W: Sanabia (5-3)

L: Niese (9-10)

S: Hensley (5)

2B: W Helms (10); D Uggla (29); O Martinez (1)

Love beating down the Mets and winning the season series.

I'm going to say this now, If we don't resign Dan Uggla because he wants more money then we want to give him, I'll be pissed as hell!

He's done more then enough to earn a wealthy contract and he's on his way to his first 100 rbi season!

Also Clay needs to be the closer next year no ifs ands or buts about it.

I agree, unless we can make him a starter and has a similar ST as this year.

He's really to valuable to risk moving him to the rotation when we still have guys like West, Volstad, Sanabia, Villanueva and Koehler (then eventually Hand and James)to give a shot to. If they all fail then yeah give Clay a shot but not until then.

Everyday Clay for closer or bust!

I would much rather try Hansley in the rotation as a last-resort only. If we move him into the rotation, how do we replace his spot in the bullpen? Maybe I'm just dumb/stubborn, but I really hate trying to change something that isn't broken (talking about Clay, not the rotation)

I don't get the "Clay for rotation" thing. He's striking guys out like a madman, but probably because he's able to put all of that crazy nervous energy he has into one innning bursts, allowing him to be far more effective than he would be conserving for multiple innings.

Because he had past success as a starter pre-injury and now he has better stuff thanks to his new change

Bring in a real closer. Clay and Leo as set up men.

This thread sounds so much like previous years. People going nutso over one guy closing that really isn't a closer, and then the following year complaining that he is a piece of crap. If we don't learn from our past we are destined to repeat it.

I can see the club wanting Ceda to be the close for the future. It's just a matter of when he is ready.

Talking of which (not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere else on here) the latest rumoured figures are 5 years $58m

Why isn't Clay a "real closer"?

The difference between Clay Hensley and the Gregg, Lindstrom, and Nunez experiments is that Clay Hensley has had a great year, statistically. The others never had one.

A good closer is a good reliever, and Clay has been an awesome reliever this year. He's also now 5/5 in save opportunities. He's also pretty cheap, which is a bonus.

Who's the "real closer" that you want to bring in, anyway?

That's basically 11.6 MM Per year which is expected and I'd be jumping for joy if he signed for that.
