October 28, 201015 yr I always wondered what someone's ERA would be if they gave up runs and were taken out of the game before getting an out(and having pitched no previous innings). Affeldt of the Giants did that and his ERA(for the World Series) is ### (or infinity). Too bad he's not a starter. I would love to hear him being introduced. "Here's Jeremy Affeldt coming in with a ### era after one appearence in the world Series".:lol Why wouldn't his ERA just be 0.00? It really should be "undefined" if ERA = Earned Runs / Innings Pitched. In this case, 1/0 = undefined, since you can't divide by zero.

For some reason I thought the run Affeldt gave up was charged to the previous pitcher and thus unearned (didn't bother to look it up). My bad.

October 29, 201015 yr Anyone know what the odds for each team to win the WS before the playoffs started?

Dividing something by nothing means the something doesn't change. So 1/0 should be 1.
October 29, 201015 yr 2 mroe f***ing wins!!!!!!!! Maybe you should sober up so you actually remember the Giants WS win?
October 29, 201015 yr Rangers... I am disappoint. I agree. The way they're playing, this might be another sh*tty 4-5 game WS. I hate it when that happens. Everyone went crazy in 2004 because the Red Sox finally won, but in terms of entertainment value, that was a terrible series. As a side note, I really can't take any more of Buck and McCarver. I know I railed on them already in this thread, but they are just the worst. I would mute the TV and turn on the radio, but that would produce an obnoxious lag. It completely baffles me that Fox has never thought to try a new crew over the last decade when ratings have been dwindling. McCarver especially is universally hated. Why not kick him to the curb?

October 30, 201015 yr I always thought ERAs of pitchers who allow a run and fail to ever record an out are infinity.
October 30, 201015 yr Never seen this before - on the online bookmakers I use, they have a 1st HR market for the game tonight. So to have an interest on the game when I watch it, who should I bet on? Vlad or Hamilton? Or maybe even a wee wager on Cody.....
October 30, 201015 yr Gotta go with Hamilton. The Texas offense is due to ignite tonight and Hamilton is the safest bet to lead it.
October 31, 201015 yr I always thought ERAs of pitchers who allow a run and fail to ever record an out are infinity. It is. Who said it wasn't? I was just correcting all the great math minds in the history world on what the correct answer to 1/0 is in my previous post.

Seriously, you have a problem. Okay, here's the admission: this isn't a forum, this has been an elaborate intervention. Joseph, we all love you, and we just want the best for you. Please stop drinking. Also, you're made of crack if you think you've suffered more heartbreak than the Cubs.
