How awesome was this to watch back in 2007. They wore them on June 14th 07 against the Indians to commerate their 1997 WS win.

(PS, anyone know where to get the undershirts?)

I was at that game. Was cool seeing the throwbacks, except they lost. :( They didn't sew the sleeve patch on right. tho.

Sweet, I was there, I remember being there, a memorable occasion.

Quick question, were the pinstripes teal or black?

Teal. All jerseys from that era had teal as well.

My favorite Marlins jersey by far.

I made my own, bought a black shirt and a patch and had it sewn on.

hm. i was totally in favor of Loria re-branding the team until I saw Hanley in that jersey.

Thanks Admin, I might have to do that. Now it's a hunt to find a teal shirt as well that matches.

Too bad they couldn't keep these as an alternate, Hanley and Dan look like actual marlins in those jerseys.

Wasn't this the last year Cabs played for us too? 2007? I wish i could find a picture of him, although I did see one of Aaron Boone rocking the Vest on the field.

hehehe look at skinny-Hanley, he looks so young and innocent. Now he's a cocky superstar lol How things change!!

But yeah, the uniforms are definitely badass.

That was a great day, loved the throwbacks and seeing players from the 1997 season again. I got a couple of great pix of Miggy that day :thumbup

Guess I'm in the minoriy on this one. Wasn't a Marlins fan back when they wore them, so I have no ties to them. Always felt the no sleeves looked too softballish, highschool and not Major League. The version before the black T with the teal T (and I'm a fan of the teal, but that was too much) was even worse. Never liked any of the teams wearing em, but looking back at the pics I think these were the best of the sleveless unies all the teams wore. I can see why you guys like em, I just don't. :)

The thing is, while I do enjoy them, it seems like most of you love this miles ahead of today's current unis. But, essentially, they're the same besides the teal lettering and the sleeves... why such a disparity in liking today's unis vs those unis?

Or am I misinterpreting this wrong?

My reason for preferring these are the aspects you mentioned. I really liked the teal lettering and I liked the sleeveless look. I don't mind our current jerseys but I preferred these a lot more.

Misinterpretation-

These unifroms had a single piece of style too it, which was a explosion of color on the crest.

Those jerseys had teal pinstripes, awesome teal twill on the logo, and a splash of color on the sleeves with the black and sleeve logo.

Currently, the whole thing is the Oakland Raiders of Baseball, or the White Sox of the national league. Black Pinstripes, Black Logo, some tealish color on the crest, and a little of sparkle on the silver.

While the concept remained the same, the execution and colors changes--and in my opinion for the worse.

Some color made the uniforms worthy, now the black makes them dreary and dead to me.

lol am I the only one who sees that Hanley totally missed that ball

You say missed the ball,

I say he protected his.

I'll give him a pass, lol.

Hard grounder that Hanley kept the ball in front of him, picked it up quickly and threw the runner out in first in time. ;)

I never liked the sleeveless look. I actually think the current unis are sharp and are among the better looking ones in the league. Too much teal in the old uniforms, the all teal hats and helmets were ridiculous looking.

Who cares what they play in? As far as I'm concerned they can play in old T-shirts and cut-offs.

Sleeveless uniforms amount to dark sleeves on a regular jersey. Teal is just another color, soon to be replaced.

I'd rather they brought back stirrups, a classic look. And one of the few things Ross got right.

It is quite concerning how he has his other hand hidden down in there also. Surely he can't be......not on the field......

For proclaiming to be Marlin Nation, your pretty ignorant on facts. The Teal Hat and Sleeves were abandoned in 1995, and the Teal/Black hat was last seen in 1996.

Hints of teal are great in this uniform---the teal stripes, teal crest. The Teal Sleeves and Caps are great as a novelty. Maybe every thursday home game during the season would have been nice. Call it Throwback Thursday---

A whole lot better then "Hispanic Friday", and that god awful LOS patch. It looks like someone forgot how to spell the abbreviation for Captain. (C for those wondering).

There's a good chunk of teams that wear throwback uniforms consistently the last few years. And not just once a year in a celebration for something but like once a week or so. I wish the Marlins would get into that spirit too.

Off the top of my head, the Jays, Brewers, Indians, and next year the Mariners do it too.

I have memories of Willis getting lit up this game.

Exactly what facts did he misrepresent? He stated his opinion. I happen to agree with it.
