Giants are still crying

Featured Replies

The Giants GM is a clown but one question, How would we respond if it was Mike Staton out for the season?

I don't understand your scenario.

What i was saying if Stanton slide into second and collide with the second baseman or shortstop and was finish for the season, his fault or not we would be p*ss and blame the other players, if you say any different you are lying. thats all.

Lol Ya, fortunately Stanton plays right field. But if he was a catcher, and a throw was coming in from right-center, he would know how vulnerable of a posistion that is. And would've prepared himsel far better at the plate.

Hanley wasn't seriously injured - but compare to these comments from earlier after his collission with Hall

From Hanley:

"My opinion is he was trying to break up a double play," Ramirez said Saturday. "He told (Marlins infielder Greg) Dobbs that he was sorry but ... he was trying to do his job, trying to break up a double play."

Edwin

"Clean play? Dirty play? That's hard to tell unless it's very obvious," Rodriguez said. "He came hard but he was in range. He was touching the base. That's the way he plays and that's the way it should be - play hard."

Hall

"I don't play this game with ill intent," he told reporters Friday night. "I'm an infielder myself, so I know what it's like to be in those positions. I'm playing the game hard. You play the game hard, sometimes things like that happen. You never want anybody to get hurt."

Yah I was thinking about the similarities to that also, but what really upset me was the comments made by Sabean, its not like Loria or Samson called out Hall and wished that he never played another game of baseball.

This is getting pathetic, I've not heard a single person outside the Giants organization (An executive leading the charge?) have a problem with this play because no one should have a problem with this play. It was clean, it was legit. It's a shame about the result, but you can't sit here and play the result. I feel sorry for Posey, but I wouldn't take the play back and he needs to man up and put an end to all this BS. It's not a contact sport but that doesn't mean it isn't competitive and aggressive. Cousins did what he had to do and did it within the confines of the games traditions and rules. It's part of the game, deal with it. He chose the game, he chose the position, he chose the risks associated with it all and this was one of them.

1) Posey is not a stranger to the concept of being in a business where players, all of whom have limited playing years, get injured every day, sometimes severely and some of those injuries are career-ending or impeding.

Almost none of them are the direct result of someone else's actions. You can't be upset with anyone if you blow out a knee rounding first. This is different. It doesn't have to be an acknowledgment by Posey that it was dirty, but he absolutely has every right to be upset with Cousins. I'm sure he'll eventually forgive him, but he's got a right to be upset right now.

He has every right to be upset about it, even while acknowledging that the play was within the rules.

Sabean's the one who should be criticized here, not Posey. Posey's upset about losing a year of his career over something he doesn't think was necessary, and an argument can certainly be made that it was not necessary. Whether you "sign up" to be a catcher or not is irrelevant to whether he can be upset. Sabean, on the other hand, is acting completely unprofessionally. Executives are and should be held to a higher standard. Acting like he is is ridiculous.

This injury is virtually as foreseeable as the year rounding first. Both are known occupational hazards. That another person was the direct cause only creates a scapegoat for Posey, but doesn't substantively distinguish them, except that it gives Posey some leeway maybe to be upset. I think it's fast approaching the time to quit whining to the media, though.

And Sabean is obviously out of bounds.

Damn damn and more damn.

You really have to take a hard look at your own life when you're sending death threats to a baseball player.

Sickening times we live in.

Merely sending verbal death threats is nothing compared to soccer rivalries over here in Scotland. As I mentioned in the soccer thread recently, the Celtic manager has been sent at least 4 parcel bombs (to his house and the clubs training ground) because he is such a dispicable cretin of a character.

I think that Posey and Sabean just need to wait two weeks.

That's ridiculous. It makes much more sense for us to wait two weeks before getting upset at Posey or Sabean.

That's not where the tragedy is.

If this is a joke, I don't get it :headscratch

If it's serious, I don't get why

How much whining is Posey himself actually doing?

Anytime anything happens, El Penguino has to bring up that one time that like 5 people were upset about a joke he made and one of them told him to wait two weeks before making a joke. He's getting a lot of mileage out of that.

Lot's of people have criticized the play, but few of them have actually gone so far as the criticize Cousins like Sabean is doing. That's why he's being a prick. But lots of people have questioned whether that type of play has a place in this game.

Doesn't seem to be much aside from not returning Cousins' message, which, while childish, is whatever.

I unfairly implied that he was (you're right), but I didn't intend to. I just meant that if he is, it would be time to stop. If he's not, then fine.
