June 8, 201115 yr And yet Hanley was still getting on bases by drawing walks. Is it really a coincidence that we've won only 1 game since Hanley has been shelved? Pitchers knew he was struggling but still respected his bat and it gave guys like Logan and Gaby more protection. Yes? He had a .297 OBP in his last 47 ABs and three of his seven walks came in one game. He was struggling this year. Still, he's a lot better than he was hitting this year, so it's possible he might've gotten hot. Plus, I'd much rather have Bonifacio on the bench perhaps giving some people a day off every now and then, instead of starting everyday at SS. As bad as Hanley has been, Bonifacio has probably been even worse since about the middle of May. Hanley being out also results in Ozzie Martinez making an apperance on the roster; a guy who doesn't even have good stats in AAA this year. It clearly makes the team worse. Considering that a lot of our losses lately are one-run losses, any little thing can make a difference in those games.

Hanley's absence creates a hole in the lineup but also affects the hitters around him, who were protected by him and also had confidence in him, even if he was in a slump.
June 8, 201115 yr this happens to the Marlins every year. In fact, this happens to every team every year. Relax, it's our first significant losing streak of the season after 2 months of play. We'll be fine. Before you know it, this team will win 8 of 10 games and we'll be back to 10 games above .500. Also, it's not like the Marlins are getting completely blown out of the water during this skid. They're losing a ton of one run games and are for the most part, being quite competitve during this losing streak. Yeah the offense is struggling but in a 162 game season, every offense struggles at one point.
