Posted June 19, 201113 yr #Marlins mgr edwin rodriguez has resigned. bench coach brandon hyde steps in to manage -Clark Spencer Ok.....didnt see this coming.....
June 19, 201113 yr It sucks but its a classy gesture. He probably saw the writing on the wall and the front office lets him leave on his own accord since he's well liked.
June 19, 201113 yr I thought this meant "Edwin Re-signed" when I first read it. As in he got an extension. But this is the far more logical thing... I hate to see him go He'll get another gig as a MLB manager in the future. Probably a successful one as well.
June 19, 201113 yr Seriously, I feel like crap right now....just a month ago we were talking about re-signing him to a multi year deal.
June 19, 201113 yr Author I feel pretty bad for Edwin that it had to come down to this. The team sucking right now is 100% not his fault. I'm giving it a 60% shot now that Ozzie Guillen is our manager next year......Just please not Bo Porter.....
June 19, 201113 yr I think it is nearly the 1 year anniversary of the the Fredi firing. Or pretty damn close.
June 19, 201113 yr Author Did he do this because he was going to be fired or because he wanted to go? I don't think there's been any official statement from Edwin yet, so we don't really know. I think he knew though that he was just a stopgap until Loria could try and get a "big name" manager like Ozzie to come in when we move to our new stadium.
June 19, 201113 yr Author Jack McKeon, 80, being considered as interim manager of the marlins, sources say. Also, Brandon Hyde. HELL YEAH bring in Jack!
June 19, 201113 yr bringing back mckeon would be very interesting but edwin deserved mu7ch better than this.
June 19, 201113 yr it sucks cos i liked Edwin but can't really be too mad considering how the team is playing.
June 19, 201113 yr Author An 80 year old manager? Hell yeah... An 80 year old manager would won't take any sh*t from these underachieving players. Is he the solution, no. But it would be interesting to see how he handles our current rut.
