June 26, 201114 yr I just hope the Marlins grasp something and make it there own. I have been a fan since the beginning and am sad to see the teal and the marlin go. Miami is much better of a name in my opinion, but I hope our team does not become the Brewers/blue jays/Indians or the other 15 teams that change with the tide. I live near Denver, and its sad to see that the Rockies almost have the exact same logos and uniforms since the beginning. They have a huge fan base and the community embraces it. They both had the crazy black/random color/silver combo that all the teams from the early 90s had and have kept it. It was tacky, and obnoxious but its the Rockies. Not every team has to be royal blue, or navy blue or red. They are not the teams from 1901, they are from 1993. I am waiting on pins and needles( ouch) to see it or hear rumors, so if anyone knows... give a shout out! I am excited to be a part of this board.
June 26, 201114 yr I believe the announcement is coming the middle of november, if i remember correctly. But, the stadium name announcement is nearly 3 months behind now, so who knows....

My name is Jalena and I welcome you here. Its good to have another fan to Cheer for Victory for our Marlins. As for the colors, I am sad to see the teal going bye-bye. A couple of years ago I was finally able to find a purse that was the right shade of teal and it was always fun to take it to games. Now I will have an excuse to go out and shop for a new one. Any of the other girls here have matching purse & sneakers they wear to the games? I am in teal head to toe sometimes when I go to the games.
June 26, 201114 yr Author Hi Silver Bullet, to clarify, I guess my point about the Rockies is that they havent changed, and I wish the Marlins wouldnt. They have not changed with the tide, they have picked a scheme and kept with it no matter what. I am 34 years old, and I can think of 4 color combinations for the Brewers, 4 for the Blue Jays, etc. Just keep one and stick with. Own it and keep it. Teal and purple are very 90s colors, But that will forever be the Marlins, thats when they were created. The Yankees and Red Sox, and many of the other navy blue and red teams were created when other colors werent available easily, so thats what they had and stuck with it. Although the teal is getting smaller and smaller, its still there and its still part of who the Marlins are. I will cheer for them whatever color they are. Now, its orange and silver prob with 7 different hats. The funny thing is, I coach high school baseball and play softball with adults and just now I am seeing Marlin hats and colors become popular.
June 26, 201114 yr Well The front office's logic is that it will be a new team , new identity. There's has been numerous discussions on the topic here over the past year. There's not many if any that are happy we are ditching teal and then there are some who don't care as long as the teams good.

June 26, 201114 yr Author sadly,,,,,, I think they will be awful. It is very sad to me. I have been to 16 different major league stadiums, and the worst are the ones where baseball doesnt matter like San Diego and Tampa. I think the Marlins are going that route with the new "focused group" colors. In San Diego they have a small field for kids to play on during the game, very kid friendly games and a very generic "yankee esque" logo set. And they still have no fans. When I hear about the Marlins and their new stadium and colors, i get scared. Some people say they dont care about the uniforms, but I think it matters. Its not so much just the jerseys, but the philosophy of the team. does the team care about making a good team and making money through success on the field and generating a fan base, or by marketing the city with gaudiness. Uniforms are a direct representation of the team and what they care about. The only reason to even change to Miami is becuase Miami is more sexy and tropical sounding then Florida. Will Smith sang welcome to miami, not welcome to south florida,,, it was miami vice, not florida vice. And as much as they want it to be, its not a new franchise. The Angels were Los Angeles, then California, then Anaheim, then Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. they are still the same team. They have always been red and blue.

Actually, the only reason the name will change to Miami is because the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County required it as part of the stadium deal, regardless of whether anyone thinks the change is good, bad or indifferent and regardless of what anyone might think is a good reason for the change.

June 26, 201114 yr SO MANY **** AND ***** ON GAME OF THRONES. srsly, my gf and I play a game counting how many times we see em, it gets ridiculous. Cool show though, it's super high fantasy so it's like riding a train that goes to all the scheduled stops and bears you triumphantly to the station. Not a ton of surprises if you read a lot of fantasy, but super enjoyable nonetheless. On another note Andrew Zimmerman is doing a special on the food at pro player (among others) right now...and it's just so...so f***ing ridiculously wrong it's laughable. They're talking about the ever present salsa and meringue, roast suckling pigs, and the hottub section. I guess they've never been to the upper deck..
June 27, 201114 yr I have heard there will be no "teal" in the new uniforms which is sad. I don't like the name change to Miami but w.e. they paid for a stadium, (haha suckers) the reason I don't like it is because the Marlins were the first team in Florida then they had to add Tampa bay, they should have just called them the Florida State Devil Rays. :lol Maybe this will spark the team to play better (See the Rays) Although the Devil Ray logo looked like sh*t and I personally don't think the new Rays looks much better. The way this team is playing right now I would expect orange and pink to be the main colors the colors of "tease" Also anyone wondering about the Patriotic hats (I have one) Navy bill white head and then the USA flag F (2011 version) I'm wondering if they are going to go with those kind of colors. I could definitely picture Blue black and red trim, but I guess that is just my hope that they don't cause even more of a reason for fans to ignore showing up to ball games.

Should I make it a summer priority? Pretty good series. Once again HBO succeeds. Season 1 leaves you waiting impatiently for Season 2. I saw a special on the making of this and it said they actually made up their own language for the series. I don't usually like fantasy type shows or movies but this one caught my attention.
June 27, 201114 yr Author I like the name Miami because the state name only works in certain situations IMO....for instance, Arizona, there is only one large metro center worthy of a team, same for Colorado Rockies.. Miami does have its own identity. When I meet someone from Arizona, they are always from the Phoenix area. Im guessing orange and royal blue and black... yay.. go mets!
