HR sculpture to be removed?

According to the commentators in the highschool game something is gonna have to get done in the future-though they said that the lefty's on the teams said it didn't bother them during batting practice.

Yeah, I heard that too. We haven't gotten any players saying it's a problem yet, have we? I've seen Dobbs and Buck say that it "might" be a problem.

I like how everyone who hates the HR feature hasn't even been to the park.

Suggesting that my opinion will change when I see it for the first time?

Mine did. It went from being horrific to being whatever.

Correct. No players have said yet that it is definitely a problem for them. There is however a lot of implication that it is expected to be a problem. Maybe I'm just reading too closely but from the Dobbs quote it seems to me like he has a problem with it but just doesn't wanna start problems...

I read it more as "I think it's going to be a problem and if it is, you're going to hear me say so."

Pictures have never really made much of a difference in other circumstances for me.

I would guess that some people (not necessarily you) get caught in the moment. They love everything about the rest of the park and lower their standards with regard to the sculpture.

The photos probably don't perfectly replicate the colors, but I see what the design entails and I know it's something I dislike.

Nah. Here's the quote again: "I won't be the only left-handed hitter saying something. If other teams have a problem with it, they're definitely going to voice their concern to the league." If he was really intends on complaining about it so strongly then I just don't think he would say that other people are going to complain about it also. It just sounds to me like he's afraid of complaining about it now then finding that other lefty's don't have a problem with it.

But anyway, let's stop trying to analyze player's thoughts through examining their words...

It's not about the design or the color (though most of the pictures I've seen on here are ridiculously overexposed), the thing just looks less intrusive in person when you're sitting hundreds of feet from it.

See, the "I won't be the only left-handed hitter saying something" is what makes me thing what I think.

But yeah.

From the pictures I've seen, I've definitely come around to loving it in all its acid-trip tackiness, but, if it does pose THAT large a problem...the best solution here is to just figure out a way to make the damned thing retract.

They would have to make that hole in the ground pretty damn big for that back tier.

Hence why they should have stuck to the original plan of having it pop out of the hiding spot rather than having it visible at all times.

I think it's possible, though. I doubt that 1 Million Dollar thing (or however much it cost) is going to be taken down. At most it'll be moved or something.

Or maybe it can rotate instead. Still, retracting or rotating, it would have to be damn quick- doesn't it only take like 20 seconds for a player to round the bases?

Depends on the player. If it's a pitcher, takes about 30. Bonifacio, 14.

Great, the two most unlikely to hit hr's...

Pfft, Bonifacio hit 5 last year!

And JJ has some pop.

Be honest, did you have to look that up? Honestly I remember him hitting a couple, but 5? Nice!

No sir, I remembered his 5. 1 in Cincinnati, 1 in Atlanta, 1 in Sun Life and 2 in Milwaukee.
