July 16, 201214 yr JC Oviedo has a UCL sprain in his right elbow. There is currently no timetable for his return.
July 16, 201214 yr This is not good. That's like as close as it gets to Tommy John without being Tommy John.
July 16, 201214 yr Can we officially say that we have hit rock bottom? I don't see what else could possibly go wrong that hasn't already. This is one season I'd love to forget all about.
July 16, 201214 yr On medscape.com, a recent study of 5 players with UCL damage, 3 underwent surgery. I tried to cut and paste the link, but it would not do it. Not good for JC. I was looking forward to him rejoining the pen.
July 16, 201214 yr This is retarded. Last couple seasons everyone hated senor Nunez. Now its rock bottom because he's injured in a season he hasn't thrown a pitch in? The season sucks because all of the important players are underperforming. Quoted for truth on both points. This season would have been much better if the players played up to their career numbers.
July 17, 201214 yr Not that it really matters, but was he ever technically "activated", and if not, are we on the hook for any $ this year?

For what it's worth, I was hoping he wouldn't get his visa issues resolved this season and find myself rather indifferent to this injury.

Yep. Hate to see anyone get injured, but this guy never was any type of answer for this season. For any inning. 25 blown saves in 3 years and hasn't thrown a pitch since last August. May as well say a guy that has two career saves, or anyone that comes in and notches a save should be our guy. See what happens between now and next April to decide on him in any role. BUT....If he could come in and actually hit with RISP, especially with a man on 3B with less than 2 outs, then I would say this is a HUGE loss. Right now I think we should put a nice comfortable chair at 3B so our guys can at least get some rest before they have to get their glove.

July 17, 201214 yr Beinfest said he doesn't think Oviedo will pitch this year. Does he still get paid starting July 23?
July 17, 201214 yr Beinfest said he doesn't think Oviedo will pitch this year. Does he still get paid starting July 23? He also said that regardless If he pitched this year or not, Oviedo will be a free agent. Sounds like the Nunez/Oviedo ride in Miami is done.
