lol what an awful article...i'm sure they planned that Bell, Reyes and Hanley would be underperforming and that Lomo and Gaby would take giant dumps on the field all year and that Buck wouldn't even be hitting his weight...IT WAS A PLAN! an evil scheme...awful awful article

This team needs to find some players to build around, and then keep them long term. This constant rollover of players makes it hard to build a fan base.

We built around Hanley for 7 years.

Yup, and unfortunately that didn't pan out. sh*t happens. Now it's time to build around Stanton.

What does building around one player in baseball consist of? It's not like the NBA where you can literally build around someone like LeBron, Kobe, etc. Stanton isn't going to determine what kind of pitchers we get or anything. I know he's going to be the superstar face of the organization, but can you really build a team around one guy?

Whether it is a fire sale, or a restructuring or whatever, it is done now. I just need to come to grips with the fact that the Marlins are the Pirates, A's, Brewers of Padres with much uglier uniforms. We are never going to keep good players. Hanley was struggling, but he is talented and has been a loyal Marlin player for a long time. I love this team, but I am not going to buy a Stanton jersey becuase when he has to get paid they will let him go. It is not the Marlins fault, they simply cannot compete with the rich teams. I knew it was not going to be different with the stadium, all the experts said so. The baseball reality is that there are 5 or 6 consistently good teams in MLB, and the Marlins are not going to be one of them. Loria did get a stadium built for the Cubs, Mets and Phillies fans to have a nice place to visit when their team is in town. That is how it is everywhere in the country now, Miami is no different.

I just do not know why you blow it up so soon...... a 19-10 August and then who knows.,,They are going to be a bottom feeder and hope that every 10 years( Milwaukee, San Diego, Washington) they can be good instead of every 20( Pittsburgh, Tampa)

They have not really... They just get rid of anyone making any money..... That is just what we need to accept about this team

Who is everyone's favorite Marlin? My favorite is Chuck Carr.....He used to wear a necklace that said the art of speed on it. I saw him steal 1st and 2nd after walking once in about 4 pitches at Dodger stadium.

Tampa hasn't even been in the league 20 years...

Neither have the Marlins actually.

This be our 20th season. :D

good point,,,, 98 right?

All the new stadiums are exactly what they appear to be. Beautiful buildings that offer more than a game, they offer a ballpark experience. They are for the most part in communities with transplants who are not really fans of the team, but are young people with families lo oking for a wholesome fun activity. It is a way to make the team irrelevant and still make money.

not to mention JJ, Nolasco, and Anibal were all here for 7 years. Uggla and Ross were here for 5 years. Who is it we should have kept for their entire careers? Cantu & Maybin?

Are we just spouting some random stuff now about baseball?

Mike Piazza holds the record for most HRs by an NL DH.
