August 5, 201213 yr Adding Ozzie to this inept collection of front office morons was like pissing fuel on a fire
August 5, 201213 yr Lol Ozzie said he didn't bring in Cishek to face Moore because Washington had two lefties on the bench he was afraid of. He tried to name them, and said nothing. f***ing loser. If you had no intentions of using Cishek in that inning, why the f*** was he warming up in the first place? Well wasn't he warming for the ninth in case of a no run eighth? Yes not only is he dumb, but he's arrogant about being dumb.
August 5, 201213 yr Times like these bring out the real "turds in the punch bowl" on this board. You must have some odd experience with punch....
August 5, 201213 yr I didn't watch the game because it was my son's birthday party, but from reading this thread it sounds like I might have been lucky for not having to watch today's game.
August 5, 201213 yr Times like these bring out the real "turds in the punch bowl" on this board. Nothing has really been said that should hurt anyones feelings, there is very little to be optimistic about. When you have passionate fans that cheer for an underperforming team, manager and FO, this is what you get. Weird punch you drink though, yes.

August 5, 201213 yr Marlins hit 5 for 16 with RISP and still lose... 6 UNEARNED runs charged to Dunn. :| Awesome glove flip by Buehrle btw.
August 5, 201213 yr If I am Reyes I am demanding a trade at this point. What a shame that we are wasting such a good player on this joke of a team. Every single person in management needs to get fired. Players get ripped all season but management is immune to blame. f*** this organization. whoa, whoa...Reyes has been playing great as of late, but he played over half this season like straight up sh*t too though. He isnt justified in demanding anything.

August 5, 201213 yr Your obsession with that trade is rather absurd at this point. Your lack of understanding disturbs me. I don't care about the trade. I am just amused by the swollen penises around here over alveoli. You could easily say the same thing about Turner and Brantly, yet you nitpick that specific trade.

Don't know why considering Hanley has sucked with the Dodgers.
August 5, 201213 yr At this point of the season I think it's time to throw in the towel and think about next year. Dump any big salaries we don't want (Lee, Buck, possibly Nolasco and Bell) give guys in the minors (not just prospects, guys like Coghlan and Nick Green) a shot to see if they are worth giving a spot on the 40 man and most importantly get everyone healthy. No need to have guys like Boni and Stanton come back from lingering injuries and play every day, give them a couple of games then an off day every 3rd or 4th game so they stay active but don't over do it and get hurt again, we need them for next year. Also it may not be a bad idea to shut down some arms like maybe Mike Dunn who has been horrendous and Heath Bell if he continues his struggles. This FO has money to work with this offseason, hopefully they spend it wisely and get us good, young, proven talent to join what should be a healthy JJ, Gian Carlo, Reyes, LoMo, Bonifacio, Buerhle and Cishek as the core of the team.

You could easily say the same thing about Turner and Brantly, yet you nitpick that specific trade. There hasn't been much boner talk over Turner. Brantly is actually interesting. Brantly is easily the least interesting of the three. We haven't been given a chance to have boners over Turner because, unlike Eovaldi, he hasn't pitched for the Marlins in the big leagues yet so most people on here haven't even seen him. They're all prospects. They could pan out and it's possible none of them pan out. Turner, like Eovaldi, has less than stellar peripherals. Brantly has the least amount of upside of the players being mentioned. If you re-visit both trade threads, I'm almost positive there were more dislikes toward the Dodger trade than the Tiger trade. You're taking things out of context and loving Hanley a little bit too much.
August 5, 201213 yr We start our scrubs, they perform better than we could have ever hoped, scoring 7. Scoring the "right" way, moving guys over, solano's bunt N'run. and we still lose, the one night the bullpen can give up a few runs, they give up enough to lose. I don't know about all of you, but I really enjoyed the first 7 innings of this game. I had hope, that maybe, just maybe they might be enjoyable to watch. Sadly dunn, and his unearned runs made me change my mind.
August 5, 201213 yr Few posts on here are ridiculous, but whatever, I won't say anything about them, I'm sure they're out of rage and anger. One dropped ball leads to a shitstorm of runs. Amazing how baseball works out sometimes. I fell asleep after Heath Bell's 1-2-3 inning [or was I already asleep and that was a dream? Either way] and figured, "if that's happening, we got this, whatever." Nope. I do agree, Cishek should have been brought in after Dunn allowed a couple more baserunners and it was clear the dropped ball probably shook him up. Didn't help that they tied the game and Ozzie left him out there to face Espinosa and Harper. Bonehead move by Ozzie, I can't defend him there at all, and I'm pretty much FOR Ozzie being our manager. Perhaps he wasn't that good of a manager in Chicago. Maybe he's still adjusting to the National League style of managing. It's much, much easier to manage a lineup with a DH. Sure, doesn't help that so many underperformed, but we can't use that excuse for last night's game. The team actually performed decently. Comes down to poor managing of that 8th inning. Or did we perform well? I mean, the Nats did have a couple of errors. *sigh* Should we shut down Stanton for the rest of the year? No. No need. Bonifacio, possibly, but we'll see what happens. Morrison, yes, make sure he doesn't stand up without any support until about October 25th, I suppose. Stanton, I'd rather he be out there getting some ABs. I agree with what someone said, rested every 3rd or 4th day and not out there 100% of the time. Replace him for defense if the game is out of reach by the 7th, or if we're winning in the 8th. Something like that. Another thing - why is Ruggiano pinch-hitting if he has back spasms? He's had some very ugly swings the last couple of days. I understand he had to come in cause of something the other day, and his time came up to bat, but his swings, like I said, very ugly. He was in obvious pain after he swung. I guess since Murphy was injured or something? I don't know. Whatever, really. IDK what else to add. *shrug*
August 5, 201213 yr I still haven't figured out what the Marlins are planning on doing with Bell. Since the Marlins are out of contention and Bell has thrown a few decent outings recently, I don't see why it would do any harm to try him in the ninth inning again. That way the Marlins have a better idea of where stands to be in 2013. The other side of this is that perhaps the Marlins have already decided that Bell is a goner in the offseason (either by trade or waiver claim) and Cishek is likely to be the closer in 2013 and the next 2 months will be his "trial." Unless Bell is likely to be gone in the offseason, it wouldn't hurt to have him close some games again.
August 5, 201213 yr I thought/hoped for sure he was going to yank Dunn after it was tied w/ two on and put Cishek in to get out of that jam. Ozzie really pisses me off sometimes. Sucks because pretty much everyone played really well last night. Petey was ballin.. Had that feeling though all game that we just weren't going to be able to keep that lead no matter how much we scored.
August 5, 201213 yr What should the Marlins have done instead? I'm not saying what they did was wrong. I'm just not understanding the love eovaldi and tuner have been getting. Especially eovaldi. So you agree that trading Hanley was the right move? I do think that people are overhyping the trade returns, but I highly doubt the Marlins could have found better prospects elsewhere. If you are disappointed with that you should blame your boy Hanley for sucking a massive one. There's no guarantee that the FO spends the Hanley money wisely, but I'd rather take that chance than pay Hanley to be a .700-.750 OPS hitter and play worst in the league defense.

That way, if one fails, the other is right there to take over.
August 5, 201213 yr Yes. The guy with an ops over 1k is the least interesting. Probably because he will actually contribute but doesn't have that incredibly long shot at being very good. He's played in 10 games with us in which he's had an incredible hot streak. He's also playing in the PCL now with us instead of the IL. PCL is a much better hitter's league. His career OPS is .726. He's very young, though, only 22, I expect that number to rise anyways. At least a little bit to around a .775 area.
