I guess this is what they were hoping for when they restructured. Oops, subtract 1 from that date on the title.

yeah while Buck isn't a .280 hitter, he's not .180 either. Slugging the heck out of the ball this month.

God it's fun watching Stanton. To have him doing this stuff in the middle of a pennant race would be so great....

Don't waste this.

This is just foreshadowing

After watching the offense slug it out at Coors & now at Chase I think the Marlins should consider making the ballpark a little more offense friendly.

Buck increasing his trade value!

Maybe. Hard to tell what the FO is thinking, but they may think it would be a good idea to have the vet stick around to help the kid out through his first season. Can't say I would be totally opposed to that. Kind of a scarey thought to hand the reigns to a vital position completely over to a rookie. I guess it will depend more on what they plan for next year's salary cap. That's something I don't have much confidence in.

I think it will all be tied to how well the attendance keeps up in the next 6 weeks.

I hope that we have no storms (and one is brewing and early model runs show it could be a danger here). If that happens, and it affects the area, 1st you have to possibly move a few games to another venue. Then if its pretty bad, people are preoccupied with getting their homes and property restored. All of that, coupled with the beginning of football & basketball seasons and the Marlins will definitely become an afterthought.

If the Marlins can reestablish something by making a run at 3rd place (very doable) in the division and take that surge into the off-season and re-sell (people like me) that last year was just a fluke and that they are serious again about winning next year, then maybe they will sell enough season tix to keep that payroll over $65-70 million and maybe add pieces.

Keeping or trading Buck may be decided by that.

I hope so, that 344 down the lines is brutal.

Or maybe the Marlins need to focus on better hitters, the other teams have no problem beating the Fish at home

True. Despite the Marlins offense being third to last in the league in runs scored, Marlins Ballpark his 13th among all other ballparks in the league in terms of runs scored there.

I love how people, pretty much since opening day, have been almost begging for the walls to come in.

Citi Field didn't do it til it's 4th year. PETCO has been around since 04 and they're just NOW considering bringing the walls in.

Let's give this park more than one season, shall we? And I agree with Cyggy, just need better hitters. IDC if the ball goes over the fence or not, if we score runs we score runs. All I want is that guy that'll ground the ball to short with the infield back, less than 2 outs and a runner on third.

Not sure what you are saying. Do you think that the Marlins keeping John Buck or not is actually going to be detrimental to the team's image? There really isn't a reason to keep Buck if they can find another team to eat that contract.

Marlins Park doesn't rate well for home runs, but overall the park factors slightly rate it as a hitter's park (close to neutral).

Better hitters and outfielders would be nice.
