June 8, 201511 yr I'm getting really tired of seeing dudes armed with only daggers take out the Unsullied like they're nothing. And where were the rest of The Second Sons? Did Daario lose command but he's just sticking around so he can stick it to Dany? Weird. The Harpys are really annoying me and have completely overstayed their welcome. The sand snakes and their stupid mother also, unless they're showing their tits. That prison scene was pretty caliente. Dany flying off on the dragon was a little weird but necessary. I was going to complain that no annoying people have been getting their head taken off, but Dizhard Loraq got stabbed a few times which was nice. Or however you spell his name, the douche going to marry Dany. And I wasn't shocked by Stannis' decision, he's stubborn and wants the throne more than anything, more curious to see what comes of it. Overall it was a so-so episode. Set the stage for the finale.
June 10, 201511 yr Author The Stannis stuff is difficult for me to buy into completely. He's supposed to be this great accomplished military leader and tactician, yet his camp is basically ruined by 20 men? I mean no lookouts or something? As terrifying as the Shireen sequence was (particularly after they'd showed him being so close to her) I think as winter has started to close in on him, he's getting worried this could all fall apart, and after Blackwater and the leeches thing he's convinced that appeasing the lord of light is the key, thus whatever the red woman tells him to do. Remember when we first meet Stannis he's already burning relatives at the stake on Dragonstone just for worshipping other gods, so he was already a fanatic. And beyond just wanting to be king I think he does also have some notion that if he's able to pull this off it may save the lives of many, compared with losing one daughter. It's a horrific and heartbreaking scene though. Maybe looking back it shouldn't be that shocking because they've been spending all season rehabbing Stannis' image just to tear it down now again, and that's very GoT. I wonder once Davos gets wind of this if won't just abandon Stannis and join up with Jon Snow. Uncle Leo, couldn't agree more on the Harpies. They've been constantly beating the Unsullied, though I guess it's supposed to be the advantages of guerrilla warfare, the fact that it's their home turf, etc. And maybe they needed to keep this act going to finally get Dany out of there (if that's what's happening). But still, ugh. And Barristan deserved better too. Loved the entire last act at the Mereen arena though, Jorah was great. In fact I would hope this latest revolt just finally convinces her to get the hell out of Essos completely.
June 11, 201511 yr You nailed it. Stannis is stubborn, thirsty for the throne and power, he won't be stopped. I was actually more surprised how it was the mother that was crying at the end. Was hoping she'd jump in the fire with her... Couldn't stand that broad. Wasn't surprised by the girl dying at all. Seems like I'm one of the few though. And what does Dany do with Mereen? Just leave? Spend all that time there and accomplish absolutely nothing? I don't know. I guess it happens, kind of how when the US tried occupying Vietnam, sometimes you just can't. I can't wait to see what comes of the sacrifice. And the same way Dany is benefiting bigtime from Tyrion, Snow could definitely use someone like Davos. There's just so much going on, I really have no idea what they'll focus on this next episode. I feel like 8th was about Castle Black and whitewalkers and then 9th was about Dany and Mereen and now they need something to happen with Winterfell/Stannis/Sacrifice/Sansa/Brienne/Reek or Theon/ Ramses and Roose... something's gotta go down there. My opinion. And arya being slowly developed in all 3 with her first kill coming as well. I think she dresses up like a hooker since Trent likes em young and she stabs him in the dickhole. If he was gonna recognize her he would've done so by now, no?

If he was gonna recognize her he would've done so by now, no? Lets address some of these one at a time. The Sons of Harpy are currently attempting to kill Khaleesi. She brought change to the land, they didn't like it, and there is a large enough rebellion that they are capable of putting up a fight as we have already seen. I highly doubt Daernys just leaves Mereen. I'm sure she'll stay to assert her dominance, use her resources to find out who is responsible for leading the rebellion, and have them executed in a brutal manner. She saw firsthand that standing by her principles are what has gotten her this far. The moment she backed down on her own morals and tried to appease the people despite her beliefs, they turned on her anyway. Daernys is powerful now. Not just because of the dragons obviously, but because she has a real purpose for the first time in a while. She'll go and attempt to acquire the Iron Throne at some point, but first she needs to prove that she can withstand an uprising in Mereen and leave unscathed. While she obviously has her flaws, Daernys is likely the best option currently to run Westeros (despite all the Dorne king lovers). With Jorah and Tyrion (as well as her boy toy) on her side, she's got excellent advisors and some powerful protection on her side. She is fair with the people but has learned that the moment you show weakness people will pounce on it and take advantage. Also, she HAS FUCKING DRAGONS. Not too many people will fight against her as long as she has dragons. I'm not sure whether the dragons could play a part in defeating the White Walker since it seems Dragon Glass is the one thing that can kill them. I haven't read the books so I'm guessing here. Jon Snow is doomed in this tale. He's good to a fault. People around him are right in that his attempts to save everybody will end up getting many of them killed. While Snow is noble, he doesn't have the capacity to learn when he needs to make the smart decision in the long run over making the right decision in the moment. Also, that kid he's been mentoring seems prime to eventually kill him anyway. I'm not sure how much longer Davos attempts to stick with Stannis after the whole crazy episode last week. I don't think he attempts to kill Stannis, but I'm not sure if Davos can defend Stannis much longer given how close Davos was to the girl. I'm not sure about Arya killing that guy who killed her friend will happen just yet. This season has been devoted to her passion to become one of the faceless, and obviously killing him would end with her abandoning her mission. Yes, eventually she will realize that being with the Faceless God isn't her trek in life (especially since that was alluded to with her leaving her sword behind for a future event), but I don't think that story will be tapped into for another season. I'd have to imagine a good deal of focus for the finale will deal with the aftermath of Stannis burning his daughter. While Stannis did that in a desperate move to appease the Gods, you can see during that moment that his people started to turn on Stannis in that moment, and he'll have to rally his people back on his side. He has no chance of moving closer to the throne unless he has the support of everyone, especially given the harsh conditions his group is facing currently. There will either come a time where Stannis is pushed to far by Melisandre, or Melisandre is ultimately going to turn on Stannis imo. While she currently believes Stannis to be the chosen man for the throne, her beliefs are changing all the time given what information she feels she's being fed by the Gods, and we saw during her encounter with Jon Snow that she is willing to do anything to achieve her ultimate goal, which includes destroying everything and everyone in her path. She's quietly the most dangerous person in the world of Game of Thrones currently. Also, we saw absolutely none of Sansa's story last episode so that should play prominently. Finally, I don't believe for a second that Jamie and Bronn are just going to get back to King's Landing without any issues next episode. While Dorne let them free, that doesn't mean that they're free from the rest of the world as they attempt to go back. Also there's the matter of Margaery, her brother, and Cersei still being locked up. While it seems incredibly unlikely, I have to imagine Tommen finally grows some balls and finds some way to get Margaery and Cersei out of that situation they are in. Either that, or the Tyrell's use some of their pull to get enough people and fight there way to get Margaery out while leaving Cersei to rot. I think that may be the way they are going.
June 13, 201511 yr Author No clue what they'll do with the season finale but the stories would seem to be Arya, Winterfell (Stannis/Bolton/Sansa/Brienne?), and Kings Landing (Cersei, Tyrells, High Sparrow). Might be done with Dany 'til next year. I don't think Tommen will grow any balls. Maybe Jaime comes back and convinces Tommen or his uncle Kevan to take the Kingsgaurd and the Gold Cloaks and wipe out those pesky Sparrows to save Cersei. But I doubt it. Maybe like you say Dim, it'll just be a Tyrell rescue mission. I don't have any notion of what's going to happen with Sansa/Boltons or Arya/Trant. One thing that may be interesting... Stannis is about to attack the Boltons at Winterfell, and there's a certain Lady watching just outside the city who doesn't like Stannis much. and dim i think you're partially right on Jon Snow - a little too noble for his own good sometimes. He's got a lot of Ned Stark in him. Davos would be a good adviser however.

I think that's pretty awesome despite how awful that scene was!
June 14, 201511 yr Buzzing for the finale tonight. One event in particular that I'm really hoping to happen.
June 15, 201511 yr Author The Stannis/Shireen thing is basically a retelling of the ancient Greek story of Agamemnon. I think that's pretty awesome despite how awful that scene was! yeah there's quite a few of his themes that he's pulled from the history books it seems. But yep agreed.
June 15, 201511 yr Author god dammit this show.... someone hold me. but first, Cersei and I need to shower.
June 15, 201511 yr god dammit this show.... someone hold me. but first, Cersei and I need to shower. For the watch?
June 15, 201511 yr Author For the Watch. and seriously even if that was a body double, Lena Headey was amazing there. so unless that time in prison and the walk actually *worked*, Cersei's gonna just have everyone in the city killed. And once she gets the news from Jamie... seriously I dunno what power she has left but Cersei's gonna fuck shit up.
June 16, 201511 yr I can't believe what I saw. Wtf. Are you f*ing kidding me with this. The Jon Snow storyline was my favorite. Ugh.
June 16, 201511 yr I was like 'this can't be happening' when Snow was taken out back. I kept waiting for Davos or someone to interrupt and he'd be healed like after he was shot by the arrows from his wildling lover. But after it shows him pretty much dead, I can't get the idea out of my head that Melissandre was at Castle Black for a reason, afterall she could've gone anywhere else, and she's going to bring him back. Beric Dandarrion style. I always felt like Melissandre was using Stannis to complete her goals, I'm not just not sure at what's driving her and what her ultimate goal is. But the Stannis Melissandre bond always seemed one sided to me. Such a great episode. So many people dead or left for dead, but until I see someone's head roll I don't fully believe it. Am I really supposed to expect that Brienne of Tarth mowed down a would be king while he lay injured on the ground? I don't know, she's too honorable for that. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't. Maybe Bronn somehow has some elixir that he can give to Myrcela. But I think she's dead. Sansa and Reek jumped off a wall 30 feet high into the snow, who knows what happened to them, hopefully Sansa is alive and Reek landed on a boulder and is dead. Two dumb broads died, first Stannis' wife and then Ramses pyscho broad. So that was sweet. Oh and I love that Varys is back. Him and Tyrion's conversations are the best, only duo better was Arya and Clegane (hound). And how fast did Cercei's tears of sadness and shame turn into tears of joy when she saw the Mountain? Can't wait for the Sparrows to get theirs. And hopefully Khalessi takes all those horses and new found followers (I think) and cleans out the Harpies. If both those things happen, I'll be ok if somehow Snow doesn't come back. Although I've always felt that Fire and Ice were Khalessi and Snow. They're the two vital characters. If they don't bring him back early next season I'll be continuously shocked. But Martin hasn't even finished writing the 6th book yet so... <SIGH> we'll see... Guess I'll actually have to watch some Marlins games to keep myself entertained until then.
June 16, 201511 yr Jon Snow has to be revived. The R+L=J theory suggests he's too fundamental to the overall story.
June 17, 201511 yr Author Yeah. Plus after that stare down with the Night's King, that can't be the end of the story with Jon Snow can it?? And if you think about it, all this was started by Samwell nominating him for Lord Commander. Thanks Sam! And yeah the Red priestess did ride into Castle Black right about the time he was going to get killed. And the attention she's given to Jon ever since she met him. And the look she had on her face after it all fell apart with Stannis, never seen her like that. So something's up, for sure. Whether it's some sort of resurrection I dunno..... We've seen Thoros of Myr do it, and I don't think it was limited to Beric Dondarrion either (though that's what we saw in the show). If I recall, Melissandre told Thoros at the time "you're not supposed to be able to do that", it was odd - like she knew it could be done but not by him for some reason. So can she resurrect the dead? One would think - but we've seen her do some pretty twisted blood magic too, not sure Davos would want to see that. Pretty sure Brienne killed Stannis though. Jesus that whole family wiped out now. Selsye, Shireen, now Stannis. RIP Baratheons, I guess the last one is Gendry, Robert's bastard. Actually all he had were bastards, apparently he & Cersei never conceived, everyone was either Jamie's or from other women. We didn't see Gendry all season, wonder if he still has a story?
June 17, 201511 yr I think it was pretty grim of them to leave so many characters in 'are they actually dead' mode. Stannis, Sansa, Reek/Theon, Myrcella, Snow. Then there's the dangle of The Mountain being resurrected and the Red Witch popping up at Castle Black. A bit naughty. At least with Joffrey, Tywin, Robb, Catelyn etc they showed the death. I'm still hoping The Hound survived as he was my fave. I've decided to get into books. I don't have time to read them, so I'm bought them from Audible to listen to on commutes and in the gym.
June 20, 201511 yr Praying that the next book is released before April 2016 but I highly doubt it will be.
July 1, 201511 yr Good point on Gendry, forgot about that dude. They really worked his development and rapport with Arya and then all of a sudden he was gone. And yea it's grim that so many people are left for dead, but it also keeps us speculating hardcore and it leaves him and the writers with a ton of options about what to do next and show what first, etc. Too bad it's more than a year away from happening... Winter of 2016 if I had to guess? And if you watch that clip, first of all try not to fall in love with Emilia Clarke, I dare you. She's so amazing brunette. Anddd she pretty much gives it away that he's going to be resurrected. He has to be. She's the fuckin smokin' hot FIRE and Jon is the little bitch snow ICE or whatever.
August 25, 201511 yr I've seen all five series of GoT, but I've only just started reading the books. How do you put the bloody things down?
May 14, 201610 yr Author Wow that finishing scene with Melisandre last night sure was a talking point. Stannis might be glad he was not there to see that. This season's hopping along. can always count on Davos to put things into perspective. "that seems fucking mad." So apparently the other houses in the north are all traitorous assholes. Holy crap the battle at the Tower....
May 15, 201610 yr Ramsay has become my favorite character. Such a twisted fucker. He sure is. It's funny how so many are disgusted with his actions. I used to despise Joffrey and was glad when he got killed off but I actually enjoy having a character like Ramsay there to dislike.
