Posted June 3, 201311 yr Is Pierre an upgrade over Ruggiano right now? Four straight starts while benching Ruggiano. Pierre is on his way to the bench or being designated when Stanton returns anyway. What the fuck is the point? With Ruggiano, there's already a huge defensive upgrade and actual offensive upside. Even with his BABIP struggles, he has over .100 OPS points on Pierre while leading the team in homeruns. While Pierre, as much as I like him for nostalgic reasons, is clearly not coming back from a .555 OPS and a paltry .253 wOBA. And if this trend continues, they're also managing to lower Ruggiano's trade value by making him appear as a bench bat when there's a legitimate chance he could pass as an everyday player. In addition to limiting his regression to the mean by taking the bat out of his hands. Everything about this team is fucking stupid.
June 3, 201311 yr Seriously though, I do not understand why Pierre, Polanco and Mathis are even in the big leagues at this point.
June 4, 201311 yr Author Seriously though, I do not understand why Pierre, Polanco and Mathis are even in the big leagues at this point. You can throw "Dobber" into that category as well. Between the four of them, they are commanding 7.5 million in salary in return for their horrendous production. And for all the yapping about Dobbs and his professional ABs with RISP, he's hitting .216 with a .292 wOBA in those situations. Dumbass broadcasters.
June 4, 201311 yr Because JP has heart. A great pitcher we haven't got Nolasco! A great hitter we haven't got Solano! What've we got?

Put me in the camp of Wtf fo why are you starting JP over ruggz
June 4, 201311 yr I don't understand why JP is starting over Ruggiano either. Redmond is really holding this team back from reaching its potential. He's already handcuffed with injuries to key players why would he keep his better players out of the lineup on purpose?
June 4, 201311 yr THe Phillies announcers said Rugz had an issue with his hand and that is why he is sitting out

June 4, 201311 yr Author THe Phillies announcers said Rugz had an issue with his hand and that is why he is sitting out I haven't heard anything like that. He's pinch hit twice in the last two games. Can anyone confirm?
June 4, 201311 yr Author Dobbs isn't a starter, he's a bench guy. Off the bench, much better-er. Career .694 OPS as a starter vs. .717 off the bench. He sucks. The only time it was remotely noticeable during his Marlins career was in 2011 (in a tiny 46 PA sample off the bench) and the perception has stuck. Thanks in part to continuously being harped on by Tommy and Rich. I could live with that off the bench with no defensive impact if he wasn't being overpaid and likely headed for decline. Which has likely started given how atrocious he has been this year. Waste of a roster spot.
June 4, 201311 yr i have no idea why you think solano is a good ballplayer Because he is rated 80 in MLB 13 the show
June 4, 201311 yr Donovan solanos ate one of those novelty place mats with all the presidents on them when he was a kid. when he finally pooped it out a few days later the world was blessed with mount Rushmore

June 4, 201311 yr Lol you guys are crazy. The dog named beefcake should be the team's trainer and replace Cunningham I'm sure he could get the team in shape in no time.
