June 7, 201313 yr Well SS and 3B were equally weak parts of this organization. The FO just seems enamored with Hechavarria for some reason. He's a rookie so his hitting will only improve more next year and he is a monster on defense so they will stay with him for a long time and he will either become a top or middle of the order hitter if he doesn't he will stay 7 or 8th as long as he keeps on being a vacuum in the field. He plays the most important defense position in the field.
June 7, 201313 yr Well SS and 3B were equally weak parts of this organization. The FO just seems enamored with Hechavarria for some reason. 3B was far weaker. We had literally no one worth a damn in the system before Moran. And weirdly enough, somethingfishy is actually correct in the FO will stick it out with Adeiny for his glove alone
June 7, 201313 yr Interesting selections thus far, with the exception of Moran all the other players selected have been well before they're slotted talent level. Krook was close being rated as 42nd best prospect from BA and drafted at 34, Williams rated 74 drafted at 44, Suggs 97 drafted at 73 and today's selections Deluzio and Woods were all the way down in the 200's!! Not sure what the tought process is in doing this, guessing they hope they'll sign for where they were rated versus where they were drafted

I'm sure all team's draft boards vary greatly from BA's.

I have doubts he will ever hit well enough to warrant being a starter in this league even with his glove.
June 7, 201313 yr Rd. 5 Pick# 142 Chad Wallach - C ... son of Tim Wallach - projects as back-up catcher? meh
June 7, 201313 yr So to recap: RD #1 - Colin Moran 3B COMPETITIVE BALANCE RD A - Matt Krook LHP RD #2 - Trevor Williams RHP COMPETITVE BALANCE RD B - Colby Suggs RHP RD. #3 - Ben Deluzio SS RD #4 - KJ Woods RF/1B RD #5 - Chad Wallach C RD #6 - Ryan Aper CF RD #7 - Justin Bohn SS
June 7, 201313 yr RD. 3 Pick #80 Ben Deluzio - SS Should he sign with us, he projects to be a CF'er in the future. He apparently has plus speed and an average arm. I hope he stays in SS, though. This could be one of those guys that forego signing now in hopes of getting picked earlier in the future.

I was actually wondering yesterday how many players are gonna want to sign with the Marlins because they are the Marlins

True, but I would not rule out Loria as a factor
June 7, 201313 yr Hmmmm Players like Appel re-entered the draft and did not sign the first time. Stanton tweeted his displeasure with ownership. Would not be surprised if some picks did not want to play here and decide to wait a year for something better
June 7, 201313 yr Hmmmm Players like Appel re-entered the draft and did not sign the first time. Stanton tweeted his displeasure with ownership. Would not be surprised if some picks did not want to play here and decide to wait a year for something better Because of money. He fell to a slot that wouldn't have resulted in him being paid as highly as he would have had he been selected first overall. In fact, he probably wasn't selected first overall because he wanted too much money.
June 7, 201313 yr The notion that players the Marlins draft wouldn't sign because of the ownership is patently ridiculous. You really think 18-22 year olds are going to not take our money? You think that some will choose to go back to school and risk injury instead of getting paid to play professional baseball because they dislike the man signing their checks? The same owner who will likely not own the team in 5 years when most are ready to play in the Majors. I wouldn't worry about this... very few care who drafts them as long as they get drafted and a fair contract.
