Eovaldi deserved much better.

No offense and being 3-4 in our last 7 games, all 4 losses were pretty damn frustrating.

Stanton, supposed to be the big man on campus, doing nothing again.

Its a no-win situation for Stanton really, you expect him to do more because he's the best hitter, but he's also surrounded by a historically bad hitting lineup that doesn't give any room for him to anything. Donovan Solano hitting at #5 says it all.

He's been all over the place, he said a month ago that he felt there were two sides to him this year... I can see it.

People still forget he's only 23 - 7 months younger then Matt Harvey, the new hip kid on the block.

This is part of the reason for his dow year.

But watching him tonight...his struggles had nothing to do with protection. When you're swinging at pitches nowhere remotely near the strike zone, you're gonna have a bad day.

Hasn't been the first time and he's looked bad for the last week really. Like I said.... he's been all over the place this year, extra streaky.

Maybe next time my thread to start a game won't be deleted, idiots.

There was a nice little homage to the '03 Marlins Championship team before first pitch. Everything went downhill from there.

I am still mad at myself that I put any $$$ in Loria's pockets.

I still would like to win obviously, but seeing the young pitchers put in quality outings like that bodes well for the future.

I can't believe the hate for Stanton. This is baseball. People go through slumps, especially at a young age. Most of it is mental as you can tell by the frustration in the dugout. Hes 23 years old and getting the best pitches every pitcher has to offer. Hes the one guy every guy knows they cant make a mistake too. Its a constant adjusting process and he will make the adjustments soon enough and keep hitting moon balls. Hell, he was about an inch away from hitting 2 of the farthest balls of the year in the pirates and mets series when he hit 2 of the highest pop ups I have ever seen. It is magnified this year because he is the only guy in the lineup that is really worth a damn right now.

After today's game:

"I'm watching him for the first time this year. It seems he's gotten hot, but just hasn't really been able to sustain it," Redmond said. "The times he's kind of gone into some funks, they've been some sustained funks for more than three or four games.

"So, I mean, he's just got to keep plugging along. Obviously, we need him. When he hits, he changes our lineup. That's just the facts."

Said Stanton: "You have your ups and downs. You've just got to overcome them somehow, eventually."

I'd say that about sums it up especially Redmond's comments. He hasn't sustained his hot streaks for as long as he seemed to in previous seasons.

With nobody hitting over .300, can't expect him to be a miracle man... but he is a bit cocky.

wtf is solano hitting 5th? wtf is solano in the lineup? He has a .559 OPS since his return...

Hey guys do you think we still have a shot at the wild card?

wtf is solano hitting 5th? wtf is solano in the lineup? He has a .559 OPS since his return...

Because there aren't many other options. Hope that coghlan comes back and plays as well as he was before he got injured...that about all you can look forward to.

Well, the could have a promotion where a fan plays second base.

He's not gonna take many walks, for sure. It's one part of his game I would like to see more improvement at. And he isn't a power hitter. That's gonna make the stats people cringe at his offensive numbers. But, for the most part, he does give you pretty good ABs. Not to mention he has the highest BA on the team with RISP.

He's also the highest on the team in seeing pitches inside the strike zone and he's about to break top 20 in MLB too. He's seeing the benefit of Stanton (2nd lowest) and, to a lesser degree, LoMo (26th lowest) getting less pitches to it. No big surprise that they're being pitched around in this historically bad lineup. Thank god Solano is doing his job and taking advantage of the opportunity.

This is complete and utter malarkey. The guy is terrible and adds negative value to the team. I don't care if he's hitting over .300 with RISP over 40 ABs or so. Eventually reality will catch up to that like it did with last years #s

I'm pretty sure Solanos avg went up over the course of the season last year.

There's SomethingFishy about your Solano defense here ...

(I'm totally kidding)
