April 2, 201412 yr Nice win. Got a little nervous when I saw Marmol warming up. Rockies have a very solid lineup and if they pitch and stay healthy, they should be very competitive. I think a key point in the game was Hechavarria's sac fly.
April 2, 201412 yr Colin Moran is out three weeks Aw, dammit Beinfest, another bust! (Kidding, that sucks )
April 2, 201412 yr Looks like the Marlins new hitting strategy of hitting the ball to where the fielders aren't standing is starting to pay off.
April 2, 201412 yr And he filled you in on his plans to sell or transfer ownership? Just kidding. That's very cool. What a great opportunity. I'd love to be able to bend his ear for an hour or two. I tried not to, I would just talk about the game and situations out loud and he would give me his two cents. At one point he told me where Elvis was born, lol. Overall. I learned quite a bit from the experience. Red called pitches for quite a bit of the game, Salty for about half. I couldn't pick up the pattern or strategy in which they would change signal calling. Loria and his wife were actually very nice. One thing I learned is Jeffrey is a passionate fan and terrible boss. Being Mike Redmond was... Uncomfortable. When Adeiny was up with one out and men in the corners, I thought out loud "Do you squeeze here?" And Loria immediately replied, "I would, but HE won't..." As he point at Red, who almost certainly heard our conversation. I then defended Red by remarking that Adeiny is a terrible bunter, to which Loria did not reply, then he hit the sac fly. Another interesting comment, I was telling my father in law about Butler and his aggressive coaching style at third when Jones scored on that close call. I was saying I like his style because our team needs to be that way to score some more runs, and Loria did not like that Butler sent Jones home. He said something like, "Most throws he is out there," while he was shaking his head. So we didn't always agree, sometimes we did, but but I learned he is a good fan and a menacing boss. I could just see how uncomfortable Red was.
April 2, 201412 yr Nice to see the Marlins are listening to David Samson and sped up the second game.
April 2, 201412 yr I really think this team is going to be over .500 and competing for a wild card spot. I loved what our team did during the offseason as far as the lineup. I think Casey Mcgehee is going to be a very solid contributor and stop gap and Salty is a great addition. Our rotation is going to be top 5 in the league this year IMO and we have a relatively solid bullpen if we could stop using Marmol. Also, I really dislike Mike Dunn as a pitcher. I would really appreciate it if we could find a different lefty out of the pen. I have disliked him since he got here and he simply can't be counted on to throw strikes or get out of jams. Career 1.43 WHIP is something i hate out of the bullpen.
April 2, 201412 yr Is Loria really that talkative? My guess is it depends if you're being a pest or not. He is a fan so I doubt he minds talking baseball. I wouldn't mind sitting near him for a game and just talking about the game going on.
April 2, 201412 yr Yeah Dunn makes me nervous h2r. I told my dad he's like marmol 2.0 and sure enough first two batters reached and a run in already.
April 2, 201412 yr And by the way marmol in the 7th was a great decision. That way if he messes up, we got 3 innings to do something, rather than 1 or 2.
April 2, 201412 yr Aj Ramos has really turned into a quality arm. did it quietly wasn't quiet for anyone who watches the marlins minor league stats. Guy was unreal in the minors and deserved to be called up long before he actually was.
April 2, 201412 yr I did like that Ramos threw six straight sliders to Rosario. He showed he couldn't hit it when he swung at them, so why not? And then the way he pitched Arenado was pretty nice, too, albeit the fastballs were a little up.

I wouldn't mind sitting near him for a game and just talking about the game going on. He really wasn't talkative until he kind of realized we knew the team pretty well and having a conversation with us might be fun. His wife made a comment that we seemed to be "pretty true fans" of the team. It wasn't like we were buds all night, we would just comment back and forth like you might with any fan next to you. Like you mention Admin, just a fan talking baseball.
